Please help - sick of having to wash and style my hair every morning!

I'm sick of having to wash and style my hair every morning. But if I don't it's a greasy oily ugly mess.

Not only do I seem to produce enough oil on my face and head every night to keep my local chippy going for a week, but my hair also sticks up everywhere. Brushing it alone doesn't help.

I don't have a complicated style. It's mid length with a few layers and a fringe.

Please tell me what I can do to look vaguely presentable in the mornings!

Reverse wash? Condition first then shampoo to make sure all reside is out

the first day, wash your hair, dry and style
plait before bed,
get up and wash your fringe and dry it, then I tend to dry shampoo if it needs it, then create a bit of a 'bump' and pin it in place, then starting above the ears, grab 1-1/2 inch sections of hair, twist to the middle of head (at the back) and pin into place, do this to whole head and you get a nice pin up Grin

My hair is the same. Don't get me wrong it does always have a glossy shine when it's first done but the next morning it needs doing again, so I just tend to wash my hair every night to save time in the morning, but I have even washed my hair before bed and woke up with it grease bound before now.
Never heard of the reverse was though. Do you do your hair that way, Toblerone and does it work for you

I have reverse washed for about a year. My hair is quite thick so I give it a little spritz of leave in conditioner on the ends if I can't get a brush through it or after swimming etc. I could push it and get three days out of it now before washing ( with some dry shampoo on 3rd day) but I definitely get two good days now. I just shower, wet my hair and chuck the conditioner on then you can leave it while you do everything else, then rinse and shampoo etc :)

I do the same and just wash every night now. I have a toddler and can't manage to wash and style my hair in the mornings. I have long hair with a fringe. It's always been greasy, and I've tried everything to try and sort it but nothing has ever worked. Often I can manage to skip a day by using dry shampoo but it doesn't look good after a few hours. I think some people are just unfortunate enough to be stuck with this problem!

Would you consider dry shampoo? My hair is shorter than yours now hair today1, but I used it when hair was shoulder length. I use Batiste for brunettes although they do one for Blondes as well. Give your roots a good spray esp around crown area. Then a good brush out. It might take the glossy look off your hair but the upside is it gives good volume. I get away with hair washing every 3days. HTH.

An up do on day two instead of washing?

I find it helps to use shampoo and conditioner without SLS in. Tresemme do a range with lower sulphates that's good , I get an extra day out of it.

The more you wash, the worse it will be. I never use conditioner as it results in greasy lank locks :-(

Thanks for the tips.

I'll try reverse washing, and maybe skip conditioner all together. I use a good spray on product on the ends which helps it look conditioned etc.

I use a LOT of dry shampoo. The best I've found is Colab from Superdrug.

But that doesn't help the fact that overnight my fringe gets slicked back with grease and then lays funny.

If anyone can recommend shampoo and/or conditioner I'd be grateful!

I Have to wash my hair every day too. Dry shampoo helps a little, but won't get me through a whole extra day. And it's actually quicker to wash my hair each morning (as I'm in the shower anyway) than attempting to 'repair' it. It's just the way it is!

A lot of times it is the conditioner. Try Alberto balsam apple shampoo and conditioner.

My husband uses Klorane nettle shampoo twice a week for greasy hair (on the other days he washes with ordinary shampoo). It is quite reasonably priced and has a nice smell.

Put the dry shampoo in before you go to bed. It works better this way.

Ok well I have reverse washed this evening. I've blow dried my fringe and I've stuck a few curlers in for a few hours. I'm going to spray but not brush in dry shampoo to roots at my parting and on my fringe.

Operation Shit Hair is go go go!

I used to wash my hair every day and then I discovered Batiste XXL and its amazing. So now I wash my hair with Samy Fat Hair shampoo only and add some Samy fat hair mousse and then on the second day I wake up and give a spritz of XXL dry shampoo and style for 5 mins with blowdryer. I have been washing my hair every day for over 30 years and wish I had done this years ago. I now wash it every 3/4 days.

I'm the same with greasy hair and skin. I try hard to not wash my hair daily thou as the more you wash out the grease the more your body will produce to replace it! I actually have stopped conditioners and just use baby shampoo- Johnsons! I also use dry shampoo occasionally but not too much, I worry it will build up and cause more great, just mpov.

With greasy skin I think it's a sign of dehydrated skin- from the inside, so you need to drink loads of water and eat fruit.

Milllii I've tried the XXL stuff before but really didn't get on with it. It made my hair feel weird Grin

I've stopped using conditioner as well, only a light leave in conditioner spray after washing. Neutrogena shampoo for greasy hair is very good too, I alternate that with Aussie Mega shampoo.

I cud have written this post.

I don't get on with the xxl although loads on mn rave about it.

I change my shampoo regularly & use Timotei greasy conditioner on ends only.

I wash my hair at night, wet fringe & blow dry in morning then dry shampoo. Sometimes I need dry shampoo on the sides on my hair too (hope that makes sense!) & tie it in a ponytail.

At wkends I style my hair in mornings. Wish I cud look more fresh at work but with an hr & 15min commute each way & 11 month DS it isn't going to happen.

Oil on ends before you wash, shampoo only. Dry shampoo before you go to bed (works it in and brushed out on the morning better) shampoo fringe. That's my routine and I've gone from every day to every 3rd day :)

I have fine hair with greasy roots and dry ends. I use salon products and a treatment after every wash as.recommended by my hairdresser as my hair was damaged before but now my hair is feeling weighed down. I have been considering a shampo bar from Lush but am not sure about conditioners.

Jazzy, which spray conditioner do you use?
