Spanish brands to pick up on holiday?

I am off to Tenerife soon and was wondering if there are any great Spanish brands to look out for, e.g. beauty and makeup brands? Or clothes or food stuff even? I have never been to El Corte Ingles, for example. Is it a good shop to visit? Favourable prices?Or clothes or food stuff even? Thank you

Thanks I will look them up online now. I haven't visited Spain much and don't know the shops at all.

Depends where you are going in tenerife as el corte is in the capital and generally quite away from the main holiday, beachy resorts.
Zara stuff is always way cheaper and lots of selection, mango also.

I really like desigual. It's not to everyone's taste but I love it. It's quite a lot cheaper than over here too - by about 30-40%

I've never been to Tenerife but in Spain generally, El Corte is, imho, nothing amazing and quite expensive. It's just a department store.

Zara, Mango, Pull & Bear, Stradivarius (sp?) and Massimo Dutti all def worth a look and cheaper than UK.

Buy meat. Cured meat. Lots of it :)

I agree with the comment above, El Corte Ingles is nice enough but it's just an expensive department store really.

I got some Zara bits last time I went which were much cheaper than home. Also one of the supermarkets had a lovely own brand range of body lotions and hand creams etc which were really cheap but brilliant. I'll try and remember which one it was. Possibly it was Mercadona, I'm trying to picture where it was, I certainly used to bring bits back every time I used to go.

Food wise, we used to pick up coffee beans for our coffee machine at home, they were much cheaper there.

i noticed a big Mango whilst i was there in february. we stayed in Adeje so it must have been around there as the only travelling we did was the taxi to and from the airport (wanted a complete get away from it all break).

i like desigual bags. not really high end designer but i'm a simple soul. i'd be interested to hear if anyone knows of any desigual or pull & bear stores around Adeje as i'm going back in october.

I second the supermarket Mercadona for toiletries, I could spend hours browsing in there!

Yes to Mercadona for creams and beauty products. Regarding clothes, the main chains people buy at are: Zara, Massimo Dutti, Mango, Springfield; lower quality: Stradivarius, Berskha, Pull and Bear, Blanco, Pimkie (French brand). El corte ingles is just a department store, not really worth it. The parent company has another brand "Cortefiel", clothes and accesories of good quality that you might want to check instead. For underwear I love Oysho. And check the leather products, bags or shoes. Camper is international but there are lots of smsll businesses producing very good quality leather shoes for cheap.

The only El Corte Ingles I know of there is in Santa Cruz, the capital in the north of the island- I like it for make up- Mac is cheaper there, but I find their clothes section rubbish- although I have bought underwear there.
I don't know about the south of the island, but I like Santa Cruz for shopping, I find it quite relaxed- I stick to the Main Street and there is a shopping centre as well. Mango, Zara, Massimo Dutti- the standard Spanish brands are all there- it's not a huge place, not amazing shopping, but nice for browsing.

Natura is great - they do lots of nice clothes and shoes, a bit alternative but also gifts.

If they have shops Uterque (part of Zara company) is good but luxe. Sephora if they have one is beauty dept store.

Vintage also worth a look too.

H&m will be cheaper. And you will or should have sales there.

Can't remember toiletries, got some good sanitary towels in a blue and green packet which were excellent though!

Nice things - check the website, it has an English option. The dresses can be so flattering and fantastic quality. Don't know if there's one in Tenerife

Parfois, it's like accessoriZe but cheaper and the stuff looks really expensive

Zara, obviously.

Bimbo y Lola, a bit like NW3 at hobbs

Calzedonia is awesome for tights but only stocks bikinis in summer

Oysho pyjamas

Zara home

Sephora

Loewe for beautiful but very expensive leather handbags

Almost all the stuff on the French pharmacy threads can also be bought in Spanish pharmacies. Betnovate is ridiculously cheap OTC if you suffer from eczema.

I'm in Barcelona right now and just got a massive haul on Zara ladies, mens, kids and mini. About 4 items each for around £60. July and August is the big sales time in Spain for clothes so it's been very good fun to shop!

I second Oysho. Nice beachwear and bags as well as nightwear.

With the current exchange rate, you will get a lot for your £££££s.

Are these shops available in Tenerife as well as mainland Spain? I don't know what Adeje is like, other than that is supposed to be a nice resort?

El Corte Ingles is OK by the way - I went to the Barcelona one to buy, hmmm stockings, Origins stuff and needle and thread to mend my vintage buy. It certainly isn't worth browsing in...!

I've added a Natura link too, its one of mine and SIL's favourite shops. perfect for alternative souvenirs.
