Please help me find a dress before I get really upset (pathetic alert)

I need a dress for a smart wedding, don't want to spend much but the sales are on so should be able to find something you would think.
35 years old, need knee length or midi as will have young toddler with me and will be bending to pick her up etc. look better with sleeves or Bardot top, ie look better if flabby bit where arm joins body is covered. Size 14' 5'8" tall . Generally like fairly fashionable clothes but aware that longer length with sleeves can look frumpy and as I am not stick thin, even greater danger there. I am usually good at clothes shopping, I have wardrobes full of clothes but not smart dresses and this will be a bit of a posh wedding. I am really stuck and starting to panic and get upset about it. Please help me with some ideas. Tia.

Starting with a caveat, I almost never wear dresses! However I have seen some nice dresses in the sale in Oasis, lovely patterns and with short sleeves. What colours suit you? What's your budget?

This is where I fall back to Asos.

Thanks so much for your help. Budget is up to about £60, I look best in bright winter colours, nothing soft or muted really.
Thanks for the suggestions, I love the monsoon one but I think the colour would wash me out. A shame though as it would be great otherwise. Wrap dresses make me look frumpy and older than I am. Something to do with fairly curvy hips I think. The black as white eBay one looks a bit older than I would like, I prefer the classic look of the monsoon one or something more fashionable. I am sorry for being fussy but I would love to have a dress that I feel great in and really like wearing.

I've been looking at asos, ordered 6 dresses but sent them all back, too short or too frumpy looking on me. Why is it that a size 8 model makes a wrap dress look fashionable and edgy but makes me look like my mum??

The lace Boden one is nice thanks, I've never considered Boden before. The collective ones are a little rockabilly for me but maybe in a plain print the shape might be nice. Thanks for the suggestions

House of Fraser has some good deals in their sale, might be worth a browse.

I was in a similar predicament, I ended up with a gorgeous bardot style jumpsuit, which with a hat becomes very smart. For me it is very flattering, as it's fitted at the waist but loose in the hips down. "pear shape" No idea if that would suit you but you cam actually find jumpsuits come in all different styles and on Facebook currently ive noticed lots if people are wearing them to formal weddings. Just wondered if it was worth considering Smile

Terrible styling with those black shoes on the picture though don't you think?? Ginger I might order that black lace Bardot one you posted, it's too short for this occasion but I love it and would probably find a use for it, thanks!
