Skinny Legs

Just been reading the thread about people with chunky legs with pangs of jealousy!
My legs are far to thin and long, I was wearing jegging type things today and aware I look slightly daft with these thin things masquerading as legs.
I have been thinking about skirts instead which at least would hide the thighs, but not sure where to start for everyday wear. I have large feet as well, so conscious of them as well.
Im tall so tend to wear ballet flats/converse. What does other people wear with skinny pins, please share Confused

Hi op, I started the thread on chunky legs and it seems there are far more of us than skinny legs. So no suggestions from me sorry except I'm sure they're not as bad as you think and many of us would swap with you.

I guess, to many people, having skinny legs isn't a bad thing? Smile

While I don't have particularly skinny legs, they're on the slender side - especially my ankles. Unfortunately I am also a classic apple shape, so if my weight goes up too much I look faintly ridiculous! I tend to wear whatever I like though, even skinny jeans, although they are often loose around my ankles.

Sorry, that's probably not much help! I'd say embrace your slim legs, and wear what you want.

What Fish said, word for word.

Olive on a toothpick is me when I gain weight.

I have been told I have little girl legs!! I live in skinnies and cons and embrace my legs!

I have skinny legs and also an apple shape. I wear most things except I cannot find any shorts that fit on my waist and don't look ridiculously loose on my legs. I've been in cropped trousers today but was boiling in them. I don't have any skirts that fit either Confused

As someone with the legs and arse of a warhorse- take advantage of having slender legs-especially in this weather!
What I would wear if I had skinny legs...shorts! Dresses! Leather trousers!

Yes! Olive on a stick is me if I gain weight too. I'm only 5ft 3 but I have long legs and a really short, thick body without a waist. I wear skinny jeans and casual dresses but shorts and skirts look terrible on me. If I buy to fit my waist they flap loosely everywhere else. Sorry not much help op.

Im an apple shape as well (or barrell with toothpicks forlimbs) my legs aren't slender they're hideously thin!
So skirts aren't sounding too promising then, I was hoping that would disguise my not there bum as well.
Oh well back to dreaming about the belly fat magically sliding down to my bum and legs.

Oh •trapped • I just remembered what my grandad used to say about me "The last time I saw a pair of legs like that they had a message tied to them".

wherediditallgiright I often ask does my bum look big in this hoping for a YES! Its horrible being too thin in the wrong places, I never used to care as much but at nearly 40 im trying to look a bit more grown up Grin

Ooh, I'm glad I'm not the only toffee apple out there!

The one thing I really can't wear is a skater style dress - having no waist, a smallish arse and not much rack, means anything with a flared skirt looks terrible. Does that hold true for anyone else with skinny legs and apple body?

I've got very skinny legs. They have always been thin, but I can't walk without crutches so my muscles have wasted awy. You could drive a bus through my thigh gap. DS2 calls me "flamingo legs" and my GP says they're "abnormally thin"!

I wear a lot of skirts like this in the Summer. Skinny jeans are too baggy on me. I'm quite small around the waist so can fit into teens shorts and the legs tend to not be so baggy, ladies' ones are a nightmare, I can get both legs down one hole! Boots are a massive problem!

I don't have this problem, but stopping by to say that squats, lunges and weights are your friends! Smile

I was going to say squats too! I'm an apple with skinny legs and belly prone. Took up exercising a few years ago. I have an ass and muscles in my legs and shoulders and am so much more balanced.

Killer squats will tone your waist and thighs : sit against a wall knees at 90' feet hip width apart heels under knees hold for a count of 30

I avoid anything wide-fitting that stops at the narrowest part of my leg - for example wide legged cropped trousers would look ridiculous on me. Anything close/slim fitting is reasonably OK, because there's no extra material flapping around.

I find that skirts just above the knee are OK too, because this highlights the knee area which is generally the wider part of your leg.

Black opaque tights can be a real nightmare, they make legs look even thinner.

As soon as we're into spring weather, I'm the first in my office to wear clear/natural tights, as the lighter colour makes my legs look less skinny.

And don't discount fake tan - practically every part of your body looks better when it's honey-coloured!

I do squats, lunges, tummy ones and another leg one to try and bulk up my thighs and bum. I apparently have weak hips (thanks mr physio). I am toned but overall my legs are still twigs, albiet toned twigs.
Petal I do the fake tan as well, my legs look painful without it.
I'll experiment with different skirt lengths and trouser widths, I really love skinny jeans but I hate the beanpole look!

Just wanted to add, perhaps look at what Alexia Chung wears? She has scarily thin legs but is much admired for her fashion sense.

Me too! Apple shape with thin legs. Hate that I can't wear short shorts either as makes the contrast between thin legs and not so thin body apparent!
I def embrace fake tan. Like a short dress with or without leggings. Will be looking for other ideas too!

Hello! I find anything ending around the knee area is ok, so just above, on or just under. Also wide culottes ending just below the knee looks ok (and my legs are really skinny!)
As pp suggested, everything looks better with a bit of a tan. I don't like my legs but actually as I get older I care less what others think and wear what I like.
