I am ready to sort myself out, health, skin, excercise and just feeling good about myself again.

I have been struggling with a chronic illnesss which is now under control thank goodness.

So now is the time to really look after myself and bring back the feel good factor.

It wont happen overnight or in the next few weeks but I am now going to start re-introducing all of the things I used to manage.

Next week is gentle exercise, epilating and no wine.

Anyone else interested in a self indulgent project for a few months? I have recently turned forty and am now determined to find my fabulous.

Me!
I'm a regular runner but suffered injury just before xmas and have had to take it easy. I've been lax with my diet since then. I'm 40 next year so want to keep on top of it. Have family visiting from abroad at the end of June.
Starting tomorrow I'm back on a health kick. Healthy simple meals. No junk. I'm going to circuit training weekly. Good skin routine.

Im trying to up my exercise and maintenance regime. DD2 is just 2 now and I'm staggering in a return to full time work - need a good regime. I'm starting with doing more yoga and my mum is coming round to top up my DIY balayage (use the Bleach London kit) and I'm going to give up coffee and booze for a few weeks - x

You know what I think I'll join you. On a personal improvement kick myself at the moment and looking to revamp/ make the most of what I've got before I turn 36 in September.

I'm getting laser resurfacing done to hopefully improve some scarring I've had for years and I want to get my teeth professionally whitened. I've bought a Sainsonic radiofrequency handheld facial device and plan to use it at least once a week.

I'm using a good glycolic cream peel overnight treatment I got from Lierac every night to help keep my skiin clear and exfoliated and to minimize pigmentation which I do suffer from and am using a CoQ10 day cream and sunscreen of at least SPF 15/20 every time I go out. I try and do a quick file and paint of my fingers and toes every few days, dye my roots, and am valiantly attempting to keep up with the body hair removal, though it's like fighting a losing battle esp with my mediterraneon heritage. Eventually I want to get laser body hair removal, will be a bloody godsend.

At the risk of sounding completely vain and self obsessed, although granted this is a self indulgent thread, I'm looking in to lip enhancement, don't want the trout pout though:O Am considering starting Botox too after I've paid off the laser resurfacing, though will be a few months before I can think of affording that and would rather use creams to stave off the wrinkles for as long as I can!

I'm going to be working on my diet too, trying to eat less sugar and consume less alcohol and processed junk but I really do need to start some kind of exercise regime, even though I'm putting it off. I'm lazy and get bored quickly so it has to be something fun, might try rollerskating and swimming as I enjoy both of those things, or might sign up for an adult ballet class, as I used to dance in my younger days.

So anyway, that's my get fabulous plan...now all I need is some extra cash....ahh the pleasures and pitfalls of being unashamedly self absorbed...

Welcome ladies and yes yes to a self indulgent thread!

Blueeyedwonder sorry to hear about your injury , circuit training sounds like hard core training.

Luckytohavemybaby congratulations on DD2, what is the bleach london kit it sounds painful.

Piercedprincess that is an impressive list. I am totally with you on the hair removal. I have very dark hair with very pale skin so get shadows. I am back on top of the epilating which is already helping. Love the sound of an adult ballet class I have being doing a ballet DVD which I enjoy.

I have slavered my face in nightcream which I never normally remember to do, have drunk lots of water and less coffee today but still no excercise.

Still it feels good to be started and making small steps, how has your days been?

Hi again;)

Did the Nip Tuck Bee Venom mask today but diet has not been too brilliant as had a cheeseburger earlier. Trying to drink more water though and no exercise like you. Day has been a bit meh to be honest as had a row with the OH this morning but heyho. I have my skin consultation for laser resurfacing tomorrow so will let you know how I get on with that.

At the moment am looking for natural botox alternatives on Amazon and getting sidetracked by products that I just can't resist. Amazon Wishlist another 10 pages longer now!

Good day 1 today!
Ate well: fruit salad, ryvita and hummus, more fruit, small flapjack and baked potato with chicken and mozarella salad.
Boot camp was hardcore! I have littleupper body strength and it worked my weedy arms hard!! Thought I might be sick 45 minutes in such was the intensity!!! Feeling pleased I went though.
Tomorrow I'm doing 5k with a local running group and hoping to keep up the healthier eating.

I think I need to join you ladies. Since turning 40 last year, I've had a muscle injury from exercising, got myself an atrophic acne scar, left my husband, had a major exam to stress over and just about got my acne under control. I've decided to get my life back in order before I'm 41!
So, I'm having my teeth whitened, having Dermastamp on my scar, physio on my leg and getting back into walking and skating.

Welcome Dolphin:) Wow sounds like you've had quite the ride this past year! Teeth whitening is fab, I've had it done before and it really made a difference and now I can't wait to get it done again. What's dermastamp by the way, I never heard of that one?

My laser resurfacing consultation went quite well, she recommended three treatments, I'm planning on starting the first mid-July, as that's when I'll be able to afford!

BlueEyed your diet sounds liek it went fabulously, much better than mine did today.
I ate waaaaayy too much of the wrong stuff, blue cheese, chorizo and wine plus nibbled on the old sweets, but always is bad when it's that certain time of the month if you know what I mean.

I really need to get it together tomorrow diet wise and be a bit better. Skincare regime going okay, I'm remembering to put my glycolic cream on every night and I think skin is looking a bit better for it, clearer, brighter softer, pigementation looking slightly better and it's a bit more even dare I say it. Bought a lovely new NSPA serum today that I've had my eye on for a while and an illuminating primer. I'm ridiculously addicted to skincare products, can't seem to help myself.

Welcome dolphin.

Sorry for not being around I had to go out to the US for several weeks and have just got back. Once the fog of jet lag lifts I really need to get my ass in gear.

Thinking about getting a bike and really really need to think about diet, time is flying by and I havent made much progress yet.

I hope that you have all been doing better than I have.

Welcome back Fabulous, hope you get over your jet lag soon, I know how horrible that feels.Sad

As for the fabbing, mine is going okay, I'm in the stages of doing a total diet overhaul, really cutting down on sugar, though I'm going to allow myself a little chocolate now and then, apart from that the only sugar I'm going to have will be what's naturally in the fruit I eat and honey I spread on my bread! Oh and the occasional glass of wine of course.Wink

Went to the shop today and bought a load of healthy food so feeling quite positive, and have started on doing a little bit of yoga every day, just to ease in to the exercise thing, a few simple poses to stretch me out and get me moving.

I have to say, I'm eeling better and more energetic already. Next step, I'm going to be working on tackling my stress and anxiety, am planning on doing some self hypnosis and seeing a therapist for that.

How's your fabbing going fabulousat40mtos? And how's everyone else doing?

Thats great piercedprincess that you are starting to feel better and it sounds like you are well on the way with healthy eating.

I have kept up the double cleansing and epilating, I was really glad that I had smooth well kept underarms out in the US and was able to wear summer dresses no prep and no issues.

Added body brushing back in today and proper home prepped food.

Still too jet lagged to excercise but am hoping to start in the next day or so. Might ue a face mask tonight, two huge spots appeared overnight which I am sure is just change in water and body clock out of whack.

I am going to continue with small steps but feels good to be getting everything back under control and some focus on just feeling better in myself.

How is others fabbing going? Any ideas for a small fabbing task for the weekend?

Hmm for the weekend I think we should all sort our our nails. I'm going to do a home mani/pedi and treat myself to a home made tumeric, neem and honey face pack at the same time. Had zero sleep last nightso feel out of whack today but going to try and eat heathily and do a bit of stretching and hypnosis all the same.

Well done peircedprincess on keeping focused on no sleep, that is not easy.

Great idea to focus on nails this weekend I will join you in that. I might even dig out my footspa which never gets used.
I will also look at my polishes to chose a cheerful shade.

Hope that your sretching and meditation helps, finding it difficulf to stay awake here and am tempted to put younger DC to bed early because I am tired!

I used red gel polish at weekend which I really like.

Piercedprincess did you do your nails?

I have also finally managed to build the excercise back into my routine.

Small steps but going in the right direction.

How is everyone else? Ready for our mini heatwave?

Ha funny you should say that fab, I opted for red too. We must be channelling our inner seductrix or something. Exercise is now firmly established as part of my daily routine, mind I don't do much but I make a point to do something every day. Foot spa sounds heavenly, I had one of those years ago, don't have one now.
Think this coming weekend I'm going to pamper with a homemade natural face pack, going to grab some ingredients from weekly trip to Asda on Weds. Also going to do an Olive Oil pre wash intensive hair treatment, basically it sounds more technical than it is but you just coat your hair in Olive Oil and wrap it in a towel or cling film then a towe an hour to 30 min before your shower.

How was the face pack piercedprincess? I love homemade beauty treats like that, any more in your repertior?

I have kept up with the basics of hair removal, facial skincare and body brushing but not much else Sad

I have a severe headache from my treatment, its been for over two weeks now. GP has been great working with my hospital team and seeing them on Wed so should get more help then.
Not helping my quest for fabulous.
How are you getting on?

Ok my top faves at home au nautrel beauty treatments are:

Mash up an avocado and put it on your face (it's super nourishing)

Give yourself a mild brightening face peel with natural yoghurt and lemon (the lactic acid in the yoghurt works to turnover dead skincells)

Egg white and honey face pack to tighten and lift

Egg yolks and Olive Oil on hair for strong shiny locks

Tumeric and rosewater and besam (chick pea) flour (find it in the ethnic or world foods aisle of your local mega supermarket) to even out pigmentation and eradicate dark marks

I just cut off all my hair though. I've actually had to go for very close to a skinhead look lol after a really really bad haircut where I decided (disastrously to make the transition from long to short. It just made my head look square (I have an angular face anyway) so I knew it would actually be better and more flattering just to buzz it.

So now I'm having to rock the Amber Rose look (google her she's Kanye West's ex).

Have been doing a bit of yoga, not as much as I should, but about 3 times a week and off on a camping trip for four days on Friday so should get a bit of exercise there.

I'm trying to get in shape and be more healthy as not only have I put on a bit of weight lately but I might be starting IVF in August/ September.

Have been way too overindulgent on the alcohol this month though...

Hope you are are doing good? Sorry to hear about your headache, I find extra strength Nurofen and a good Indian head massage helps with that if you can find someone to do it on you. Failing that self massage can help.

That is a fantastic home beauty list piercedprincess, I am going to give them a try. I did once try a coffee grounds and honey home mask which was great for the skin but made a total mess.

Wow the Amber Rose look is incredible I am in awe! I have very long wavy/curly hair so your that look is incredible and brave.

Well done on the yoga and hope that plans for IVF go well, sounds exciting and scary at the same time.

I have had to postpone my weekend away. Not much progress with the headache, some tests today and I have been referred for a head CT. Such a pest when the treatment has made me so well but the headache is just awful. I cant take Nurofen but good call with the head massage I will look into that for this weekend now that I will be home.

Have fun camping at the weekend, enjoy the fresh air dinning. I love that part of camping trips.

Really need to knuckle down next week with the diet. I think no alcohol until holiday for a start.
