Help me find a navy wedding dress

Facelikeafriendlyapple · 23/05/2015 20:05

Due to be getting married in the autumn and I'd like a navy wedding dress but I don't want to look too bride-y or pay the premium for buying a dress from a proper wedding shop. Ideally I'd like long or elbow length sleeves, probably a long dress but maybe just on the knee. No polyester. Where should I look? Ghost used to do exactly what I wanted but no longer (ratbags). Please help!

Thank you. Links would be great.

What's your budget?

What size / shape are you?

Closer I'm size 12, blonde, short-hair so I can't get away with anything too "cute" or equally too "stern". Budget I guess up to £200 but ideally about £120 max.

Thanks for links so far!

I came across the ghost Marilyn and Diana dresses in navy, I assume you have seen and discounted these?

I really like the Diana dress.... I'm just everso slightly wondering if it is too fussy (a bit like me!). The wedding will be very simple and low-key and I don't want to look like I've gate-crashed my own wedding...

Do you have ideas about the style you want? e.g. length, sleeves/no sleeves, etc?

If you can't find one you like on the high street, you could also look at bridesmaid dresses. If you don't mind looking in bridal shops that is. The bridesmaids dresses are obviously much less expensive than the official wedding dresses, and there's a huge range of styles and colours to choose from. eg Dessy.

Jaeger has a beautiful navy dress called the All Over Lace dress - £150 but might be going into the sale soon or you can get 20 percent off usually if you sign up for loyalty card.
It is stunning and very elegant, elbow length sleeves . I wore it to a dinner last week and lots of women sidled up to me to ask where it was from....

I got a gorgeous Ghost one last month. Mid calf length and all drapey and lovely. £70 reduced from over £200. Cannot find it on line to link, but it was in the East Midlands designer outlet last week.

Argh sorry ignore my questions, realised you answered them in the OP!

Hmm, the Ghost one is still winning at the mo but all these suggestions are helping. Not least because you've reminded me about House of Fraser, which I always have in my head as John Lewis's frumpy older sister but actually is proving pretty good for the kind of thing I like!

This one maybe? Or this?

Less structured.

Floaty
