Find me a dress!

Please ladies of Style and Beauty, help me with a dress emergency!

DH and I are going to Venice on Saturday. We are going to the opera which normally I'd be quite happy about dressing for.

He's just discovered that it's opening night of the production, it's part of the Biennale Art Festival so will be full of the great and good, being televised, oh and the tickets are for the front row! which would explain why they were the only tickets left and were feckin extortionate

Now he can turn up in his linen suit and look fine. Me in my aged maxi dress, in which I have been mistaken for being pregnant, and shows my bra, not so much.

Please can you help a size 16, v busty, 40 yr old who needs to buy something on a sensible budget on line that can be delivered between now and Friday!

Sorry, just seen out of stock all sizes. So not very helpful.

Thanks - I would be really really excited but am currently feeling murderous towards DH.

If he'd pointed this out weeks ago I'd have made something! A few years ago we went to Salzburg (husband is opera crazy) and I made a silk dirndl to wear whilst rubbing shoulders with the private jet/Armani crowd. I am distinctly Designers at Debenhams in budget.

Should also mention I'm v v pale so usually go for bright colours or I look ill. Max spend prob £150 for whole outfit, although I have nude shoes (from Primark Grin) so most options covered.

Just done a search on House of Fraser, some lovely maxi's and gowns in 16, some in the sale. Worth a look.
I am also Envy

In short, I would plough through the JL website, order lots of things on my credit card for next day collection at a Waitrose near you, then try things on at home and return the others Smile

Pattern if you can wear orange

Don't know if I can wear orange but that hasn't stopped me in the past Grin

The JL idea is great - I love some of the TK Maxx options, first one is prob perfect, but worried about sizing as I'm more of a vanity size 16 than a real one Blush

Watch out Waitrose!
