Loving bigbuttons thread re CH long may it continue learnt loads and working hard -spending money- to improve my skin but would like your advice re holiday skin care when in a hot climate.

Every year I tell DH that I will travel light but never do always panic and chuck in lots of extra skincare stuff, just in case but never use it! Last year we drove to the south of France DH DD10 and me one large suitcase was full of just shoes and skincare and sun products we were only staying on a campsite fgs!! Grin

Not this year with your help I will be prepared but I have some questions.

Wash cloths, only found top end five star hotels provide them with a daily change what is one to do can't take 14 in my suitcase on a charter flight.

Thought about using dry wipes they are used in hospitals and nursing homes to clean patients you add your own cleanser and then dispose of them. Anybody used them? I asked in Boots but they looked at me as if I had three heads! Grin seen them on Amazon cheap as chips for packs of 100 rather use something like this than face wipes (they are the work of the devil imho).

Should I continue with acid toners and peels when in hot sunny climate or wait til I return?

My face never tans so I use fake tan and factor 50 but if still using acid toners I imagine it will fade the tanning effect so would you need to apply a facial tanner most nights after your skincare routine?

If you do amend your routine on holiday what do you change?

Thanks all

Marking place as I'm going away next month and wondering what to take as well. I will probably just take one balm cleanser, 1 gel cleanser and a pot of acid toner pads (nip fab) and a serum and wipes naughty me! I get enough moisture from humid climates and sunscreen so that should be enough for me!

Personally I wouldn't do peels if I were out and about in hot sun most of the day which you are really when on holiday, but you may have less sensitive skin - just use super high spf!

Thanks Mowglik,

You seen quite sensibly organised re products and I think you are right about the peels not tried the Nip Fab pads but the Clearasil ones are pretty good they gave my face a right good kick start and I've just purchased a Gatineau aqua memory gel moisturiser for the summer to keep skin hydrated bargain
£9.99 from all beauty site retails at £43 normally.

Think I'll get some dry wipes I'm surprised not many people seem to use them for skincare they seem ideal esp for teenage skins and so hygienic no manky flannels hanging about.

Don't take acids if you are in strong sunlight. It will make you more susceptible to pigmentation and I find that even if i use high factor sunscreen I get pigmentation if I use acids in strong sunlight (never again!). Just leave them at home for the week/fortnight.

My holiday skincare bag is much simpler than my home one. I usually take,

Balm cleanser
Hyaluronic serum
Night mask/cream (it calls itself an overnight mask but is really just a thick night cream)
facial sunscreen for day
Spot treatment (heat+sweat+sun cream = the odd zit for me)

I tend to decant the balm & night cream into smaller pots to reduce bulk.

I use mainly Clarins products (cleanser, acid toner and moisturiser) and I shamelessly just ask the consultants for samples of my usual products when I'm going away - I'm a regular customer, and they're always happy to help. Plus generous sample sizes. I take full size serum (Advanced Night Repair) and switch to muslin cloths rather than flannels as they're lighter/less bulky, but I've also occasionally bought packs of v cheap flannels (here and away) then chucked them. (Which I know is v bad but I'll hold my hands up to it!)

From what I remember the general advice is to stop using acids for a few weeks before a holiday otherwise as it makes you more susceptible to sun damage and pigmentation. Would definitely not use the acid toners on holiday. Some dermatologists recommend stopping glycolics etc over the summer months completely then ramping it up again during the winter months

Sorry to hijack - which Clearasil pads do you use?

Glad I checked in, I was planning on taking nip fab pads with me. Caroline Hirons recommended them for travelling but maybe not on hot sunny holidays. I'm also trying to get rid of a permatan on my face so even more pigmentation would not be good! Flowers

Skin combination and looking old and they are not too strong for me even use around the eye area!
