Will Internet shopping change retailers' ridiculously early seasonal changes?

The Boden autumn thread made me wonder about this.

I haven't even begun spring/summer shopping yet. And can find plenty of on-line retailers who sell for the season which is currently happening outdoors. In the shops (over Easter hols) it seemed to be mainly summery, but with plenty of warm things still around.

Is that actually a change, back to selling clothes in the season you'll want to wear them? (wondering if anyone knows if consumer behaviour would have that effect)

Or is what I saw the anomaly? One poster on the Boden thread said their preview was even earlier than usual.
