Laser hair removal...face...anyone have experience?

So I have thoroughly had enough of plucking my chin hairs. They seem to be getting worse. They are really dark and course, and peppered across my chin.

I could pluck out between 3-8 per day and it is really starting to get me down.

I've been to the GP and had tests but everything was clear, and I do know that all the females in my family have had issues, so it's clearly a genetic marvel.

I'm considering laser removal but have no idea of the cost, how successful other people have found it and (horror) whether I have to let them grow to get treated?

Anyone have any experience for a self-conscious lady?

Cost varies, I had mine done as part of a course I booked for legs and bikini line also, look for some clinics in your area, most have pricing online. Groupon seem to do it quite a lot, especially for small areas such as the face.

I have found it very successful, it has transformed my self confidence, how I dress, my sex life because I am not conscious of it.

Yes you have to let it grow. That was the hard part. BUT, I had such an improvement after even one treatment that it was only stressful that first time. You can shave them to keep them short as they grow - it sounds awful but really it isn't.

12 months on my life is totally changed. I wear scarves when I want to, not because I need something to hide behind. I have had my hair cut shorter which suits my face much better. I look and feel younger.

Do it Grin

I would say go for it but have realistic expectations.

Usually it is priced in 'zones' - chin, neck, upper lip etc. So if you have hair in several zones the price is rapidly v high but if you are just having one zone done it's fine.

The hair has to be dark to respond to the laser. It isn't a permanent way to remove hair so you will need to go back for top up treatments even after you've finished. And you will be reducing the hair not getting rid of it all.

I've had a lot of laser and it definitely reduced the hair a lot. I'm really happy I did it. Unfortunately eventually the remaining hair just became too pale for laser but still long and obvious so the nurse advised me carrying on would be wasting my cash.

I now go to electrolysis which is more painful but is getting rid of the stragglers and priced per minute, not per zone, so I can do chin, cheeks etc in the same treatment.

Hi OP

Really recommend laser hair removal. DD has PCOS so has severe facial hair problem. After a course of laser hair removal the difference is unbelievable.
She went to a clinic that used the Alexandrite Laser machine. It is a medical grade machine and is fast allowing larger areas to be done. Length of time it takes and cost is variable depending on the severity of your problem. It works best on dark hair and DD shaved between sessions but after third session she didn't need to shave as hair had become sparse. Dd's treatment was carried out over an 18 month period but she was young, 16, and getting it done on NHS . Going private, each session, would be every 6/8 weeks and costs between £40 and £60 per session. NHS was 3 monthly sessions. Dd now goes to private clinic for maintenance every 3 months or so.

Definitely do it if your hair is dark. It was a life changer for DD.

:-)

Wow, thanks so much. I will look into it. It does wreck your confidence, and I will struggle to let it grow a bit. It isn't as costly as I imagined. Thanks so much ladies x

You really don't need to let it grow so it's visible, it's just hard to stop plucking - hope you get a good result x

This happens with my big toe and it grows so quickly plus hurts to pluck
