Sorry but can I ask how you remove hair "down there"?

Firstly I'd like to apologise if this is tmi or inappropriate...I hope it's not.

I'm really fighting a losing battle with this one.

I like to stay completely clean down there, like after a Brazilian, but waxing just hurts to much and I don't like having to go to a salon.

Shaving is easier but it grows back too quickly and I get inflamed hair sacks so get lots of red spots....not the look I'm after.

What magic tricks am I missing? Surely there's an easy, pain free method of getting smooth without the pain?

I know insancerre, I know it's there to protect you.

But I still like it gone.

it is either shave or the pain of waxing. Your choice. I know which I'd choose!

I use veet hair removal cream (or Nair, if its in the pound shop haha) if I want it to last a week or so. Otherwise I shave it.

Not all of it though. And it does say on the tube not to use the cream on intimate areas Confused I've been doing it for years trouble free though.

Glad I've found this thread this morning as I was 'trimming' with the other halfs beard trimmer (don't tell him!) and slipped and went too short so ended up taking it all off except a wee strip at my most intimate area. Now majorly regretting it as any time I've done it before it grows back itchy. Any tips to prevent the itchy grow back?

A trimmer. Use it so it's close enough so I feel clean and tidy but it's not so close that it is itchy and uncomfortable.

I have an epilator with a lady shave attachment, use the epilator on the main frontal area- and the lady shave attachment underneath and around haha :-)

OP have you tried Lycon waxing? It doesnt hurt anywhere near as much as 'normal' wax because the wax just sticks to the hair, not the skin. Ive had it a couple of times and was really surprised - I found it to be virtually painless.

I also have a Ladyshave trimmer for when time/funds are short. I dont particularly like squatting over a mirror to make sure I trim evenly though.

And also, I use razors for sensitive skin, which seems to make a big difference.

OP, there is a huge movement towards women retaining their pubic hair, it really is there for a reason.
Why not just have a little tidy up with scissors / trimmers? It is liberating to not deal with the pain of removal / loss of dignity in a waxing salon / unpleasant regrowth.
You are not a Barbie or a 10 year old girl, you are a woman and we have pubic hair.

Thankfully this 'huge movement' hasnt reached the north west of England yet, AFAIK. Although I havent actually asked anyone IRL about how they prefer their pubes Grin

Are you making sure to shave in the direction that the hair grows?

Report
Only1scoop · 03/04/2015 13:37

I shave underneath and get sides tidily waxed every 6 weeks. I've been having it waxed years hardly any growth anymore. Virtually painless Smile

You could have laser hair removal

sinclairspectrum it's none of your business what OP or anyone else does with their pubic hair. as for the 10-year-old girl cliche - do you honestly believe this?

although I do like the idea of feminists dropping leaflets from helicopters to inform all women that really, pubic hair is coming back.

OP, regular shaving stops the itchy re growth. exfoliate and moisturise to avoid ingrown hair.

gosh.

SinclairSpectrum · 03/04/2015 13:49

Um, it is when she posts on an open forum.
And yes, 10 year old girls have no pubes, women do.
I certainly don't spend my spare time dropping leaflets but am a bit concerned about what kids believe is 'normal' re body image.
The OP said upthread she may just grow it back, I was just giving my opinion that this is ok, indeed fashionable.
Kylie / Cameron Diaz etc have all been talking about it of late showing pubes may be 'back'.

Report
smilingthroughgrittedteeth · 03/04/2015 13:56

I shave, can't bare the pain of waxing.

I also couldn't care less if pubic hair is coming back into fashion, it irritates me so I shave it off nothing to do with fashion or doing it for a man, I do it for me and my preference.
