Facials

I'm heading towards my mid thirties and starting to think I need to be looking after myself a bit more before I go downhill rapidly. I've been considering having regular facials as part of this time and money permitting. My questions are:-
Do any of you have any experience of if this works?
How often do you think I would need to have them to make a difference?

I'd be grateful to hear of any others that do this.
TIA

Hi I've had a few in the past year or so and am not really convinced. I find them quite relaxing and see a slight, temp improvement so I go if they're on offer but generally a massage for same time is cheaper (and more relaxing). I like the guinot hydracleanse above others. What I do find makes a big difference to my skin is exfoliating (used to do roughly once every 10 months before when I remembered but now do it at least once a week) and using oil. I have dr organics rose oil from holland and Barrett, £15 for jar lasts forever. I'm not an organicsophile I just liked the smell and price. I've also bought and am experimenting with body shop drops of youth bouncy sleep facemask and like it so far. Garnier have brought out a similar thing recently too. Bit off message but hope it helps.

Thanks Ash, I regularly exfoliate with the St Ives stuff anyway and was my face with a muslin cloth so I've got that covered. Good to hear all experiences as i don't want to go wasting my money!

Personally I'm not a big believer in facials if you already have a good and regular skincare regime. I can see their benefit if you don't take good care of your skin already.

Lately I have been having laser treatments to fade pigmentation and this has been much more effective than any facial I've had.

they will have no effect on ageing or skin appearance. If you enjoy the experience, fine - they are harmless.

but I've never had one and am of normal appearance for my age. Slightly better than some as I've never smoked, eat properly and use sunscreen. Chose the right parents. :-)
