Devastated that Boots has discontinued my favourite lipstick!

I've been wearing this lipstick for years, it's a lovely warm nude colour and really suits my colouring. Went into Boots yesterday to get another one and was told they'd bloody discontinued it! So upset! Red lipstick doesn't suit me at all and it took me ages to find a nice flattering colour! Can't believe they've done that. The shop girl was very nice and said they'd stopped doing nudes as they were 'following trends' and going more for reds now. Bugger! What am I going to do?

( it was called 'Divine' btw)

I feel your pain. That's the lippy I used to use, its No7 isnt it? I hate all the new colours, they're clownish and I think they will lose customers doing this. I now have their lip crayon in Daydreamer which is a nice pinky nude but its more of a gloss than a lipstick. The other alternative is a lip pencil in nude.

Puss yes it is No7. The shopgirl advised me to take the old lipstick to a MAC counter as they still have lots of nude shades. It's such a hassle to try and find a new one when the old one was perfect! I wish they'd let people know they were doing this, I'd have bought ten of them!

If I do find a similar shade I'll let you know..,

Thanks for that tip, I'll test it out. Good thing about Boots lipsticks was that they weren't too pricey and you could often get money off vouchers. Fortunately I've got a few left with just a stub in and I'll have to eke them out with a lip brush until I find my new HG lipstick. Damn you, Boots!

If you google about I'm sure you'll find it - I think it's available at www.britsuperstore.com oddly - stock up quick!

Bobbi brown do a few good nude colours. I use one that's cunningly called........nude.

Agree to Bobbi brown and also Mac for good nudes. I your lips but better shades from Mac (syrup and Cosmo) and love them.

They are still selling that shade on their online site and it's on a 3 for 2 offer.

You can have them sent to your local Boots for collection to save on postage if you want. I did this recently and it came next day.

They discontinued the one I used to use a couple of years ago. I took the one in I had to try and match it up the assistant snatched it out my hand and stuck it over her hand before I could stop her ewww I went mad I could no longer use it after it had touched her skin as it's lipstick. I've never found a replacement in that shade. Or one that's got the staying power of the moisture drench since.

I'd have just scraped the top layer off and continued using it pumpkin!

I can't believe that Boots are saying they're discontinuing nudes due to following trends. I don't care about trends, I just wear what suits me. What's the point of following a trend and looking ridiculous?

Rant over!

Try the MUA lip crayons in superdrug - I tried them after seeing lots of recommendations on here and they're great - long lasting, great value (about £3 plus there are often offers), nice colours, easy to apply, look good on, and even a nice hint of mint flavour!

There's a great soft pinky nude colour that looks a bit darker than you'd think a nude would be on the packet but it's a really flattering colour on.

I used to wear brands like clinique and estee Lauder and then moved to No7 as I had kids (and less disposable cash!) but despite the price difference this works as well as any of those!

here I know this is a lipgloss but it is a good nude colour that genuinely leaves your lips in a lovely condition. I use it daily and although it does need to be reapplied, the contents last for ages.

I've just bought my first nude lipstick- 'to nude or not to nude' from Rimmel. Liking it so far

MUA do one called Bare. It's a dupe for the Clinique Creamy Nude on and is £1. I have Mac Brave which is a lovely nudish colour.

Problem with Mac Brave is, it's always Sold Out (a best seller). It's a good nudish MLBB.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. When I found this out yesterday my first thought was to go on MN! They'll know what to do and I was right! Big ( nude coloured ) kiss to you all. Smile

Pinksparkly, yes I was incensed too! Once you find something that suits you, you don't care about 'trends'. AND, Elizabeth Hurley was on Johnathon Ross show tonight and she was wearing a nude lipstick! It's a classic. It's like saying black lipstick should be discontinued as it's just a ' trend'. Bollocks!

  • bugger, meant to say black mascara not lipstick!! ( however, some people do still wear black lipstick, despite it being around for decades...)

feel your pain, hate it when that happens! (looking at you Benefit for discontinuing Bad Gal Plum mascara).

in larger branches of Boots you could try Loreal Colour Riche Nudes (Julianne is a bit pinky but there are various shades in the range I cannot remember their names, from very pale to quite warm brown).

Also Maybelline do some nudes but I cannot remember their names either, think there is one called Velvet Pinky Brown.

At the pricier end of the scale, Lipstick Queen have some great nudes and would second Bobbi Brown too.

Those are some great suggestions - if worse comes to worst you could also go down the bespoke makeup route. Alacartelondon.com offer a bespoke lipstick service where you could take your favourite lipstick and they'll recreate it for you! Bit pricier than your average highstreet lippie but it's always good to know!
