I have no idea what to wear, please help!

I have been invited to go out with some colleagues at the weekend to a local city which is cosmopolitan and trendy.

Usually I spend my life in either smart work clothes/weekend jeans-and-shirt combo/lounge trousers.

We are going for drinks, probably a bite to eat, it will be informal.

I want to look chic (hah) and evening-ish without looking a) like Carol Vorderman b) like I'm attending a garden party c) tarty d) too try-hard.

I'm in early middle age and very short so 'floaty' things don't suit me as they make me look like a child dressing up.
I can do my hair and make up, that's fine.

I've got some Not Your Daughters Jeans that would look good with a top or I could wear something else entirely.
But what? I want to look like I'm going out without showing too much flesh.

Also, I have some money! So I can buy things!

It's probably also worth saying I had my colours done a while back, I'm a Summer, blues are particularly good on me.

ok what about wearing the jeans with a chiffon blouse with a lower neckline and ties to a bow, with heels and matching bag, add either a leather look biker jacket or blazer?
