all the fashion bloggers seem to be going flares crazy. am not convinced myself that i'm going to give up skinnies, feel too short and wide now for flares. anyone giving them a try?

where has this 70's thing come from?, seems to all of a sudden be coming back in.

They can't be called 70s flares anymore.

The 70s flare revival was in 89. Proper flares. They were all over the place in that disco (opposite MacDoland's, can't remember the name of it) in Ilford. So not just "back in" according to fashion mags but unseen on the high street.

No idea what you all did after that cos I was elsewhere, in a place where fashion marched to the tune of a different drum.

And then there was another flare era ... must have been about 10/12 years ago. Cos that's how old my jeans are.

I spilt the last surviving pair this morning so bootlegs or flares had better be in the shops soon.

I have hung on this long to avoid "make my legs look like carrots." horrible skinny jeans, but my arse is hanging out, so emergency flare buying must commence.

OP: Nicholas Ghesquiere at Louis Vuitton and the film American Hustler, imo.
(After its launch 1970s makeup, hair and clothes were all over the place and that has not stopped yet. And more of it will be coming.)

Also, if you want to go all psychoanalytical, many designers who are at their peak now were children in the 1970s and must have memories of their mothers looking incredibly trendy, glamorous, outrageous in their bell bottoms, heeled leather boots and midi skirts... In this sense, 1970s is the new 1960s.

I like flares and agree 100% about carrot legs.

I've yet to find any decent flares on the high street. They just look bootcut to me. Can anyone point me in the direction of some massive bellbottoms? :-D

They're calling them flares but they look like 90s bootlegs to me.

Good. That's my preference.

I got a nice pair in River Island. Lots of stretch, so hopefully the knees won't go baggy from spending my entire time playing Lego on the floor!

Tried my first pair on this week - it was thigh magnification central, I was immediately pulled back to the 90's. Don't see this trend being any easier to achieve a good fit, than the skinnies - curses my over generous thighs!

I love flares! I used to wear massive brightly coloured cord flares in my uni days (over 10 years ago now Blush).
I'm off look online for some that might suit me now I'm in my 30s and significantly heavier. Not sure I can pull flares off anymore Sad

Wide legged trousers are lovely and very flattering on the thigh....flares not so much.

There are nothing but super skinny legs in town.

I still have to wear a skirt unless I want to show the world my bottom.

I fear a day trip to Milan looms on the horizon. Surely there has to be some flare there at least ?
