Do I look frumpy in this dress? (with photos! )

Trying to find a nice patterned dress for office-based work. This dress (Boden via eBay) looked lovely in the catalogue picture, but worried the neckline isn't flattering, makes my boobs look odd, fit makes me look fatter than I am (8-10 on top and 10-11 on bum/hips), DH thinks the pattern is aging / dowdy (I'm 35).

Honest views required please!

Its awful.
Sorry.

GlitzAndGigglesx · 31/01/2015 11:18

It doesn't make you look fat it's just an awful shape and I dislike the pattern and colours which add age

Wigeon · 31/01/2015 11:19

And another pic

Don't like it either, sorry. Maybe with s bright yellow Cardigan or scarf?

DelphiniumBlue · 31/01/2015 11:20

Its OK, but You'll always remember what DH said about it and you will always have that little seed of doubt in your mind.

Teeb · 31/01/2015 11:21

It's just not very flattering on a 35 year old with a good figure.

dementedpixie · 31/01/2015 11:21

it looks like a granny dress, sorry

tethersend · 31/01/2015 11:21

I don't like it, sorry. The neck is fine, but the pattern is awful. I also think the length is not great on you.

How about something like this?

EyelinerQueen · 31/01/2015 11:22

Kill it. Kill it with fire.

Sorry Op.

rookiemere · 31/01/2015 11:24

You have a fabulous figure OP. Unfortunately that dress doesn't do it any favours.

KillmeNow · 31/01/2015 11:24

Well this Granny wouldnt wear it! Its a horrible cut and colour .

It doesnt make you look fat though and you have a lovely figure that could possibly wear anything. But not this.

indecisiveithink · 31/01/2015 11:25

It is not awful!

Depends on the rest of you op. Black opaques, heels, a great bag and well styled hair it will look nice. Nude tights and grandma perm it won't.

It's perhaps a little big.

snice · 31/01/2015 11:26

I'm 50 and wouldnt wear it myself either-it's frumpy

TheCowThatLaughs · 31/01/2015 11:26

I would have guessed you were older from that picture, it's the sort of dress is pass over in a charity shop. You can so much better Smile

GiantGaspingSatanicCyst · 31/01/2015 11:26

It does nothing for your lovely figure. Keep looking, there are (much) better dresses out there!

Velocirapture · 31/01/2015 11:27

It's not a nice dress. You look ok but you have a great figure and could look fabulous!

ShadowsShadowsEverywhere · 31/01/2015 11:27

Really ageing!

Wigeon · 31/01/2015 11:27

Grin Ok, this is brilliant - I should post new purchases more often! Thank you!

Where on earth do I find this elusive dress - for office, managing team of 10, central London but not The City, ideally a pattern, can wear jacket over the top, probably v-neckline (think I should just give up on curved necks), shows off my nice slim waist?

passthewineplz · 31/01/2015 11:28

Sorry I'm not a fan either - it's not very flattering.

It would look better with short sleeves and a red belt.

Try the french connection or Karren Millian outlet on eBay

indecisiveithink · 31/01/2015 11:28

Hobbs

passthewineplz · 31/01/2015 11:29

French connection and wearhouse have some nice work clothes

BlueBrightBlue · 31/01/2015 11:32

Not very flattering. The sort of thing I used to wear when Laura Ashley was all the rage.

Hobbs or Jigsaw

KissyBoo · 31/01/2015 11:33

How about a Lindy-bop wiggle dress like the Brigeitte pencil dress? Modest enough for work but flattering for your figure and age appropriate.

That Boden dress is a minger.

passthewineplz · 31/01/2015 11:34

Ignore french connection, I've just looked and it's awful 80's stuff
