Epilator - bikini line

Hey,

I've recently bought an epilator and am happy with it on my legs and underarms; I've only had it since the beginning of January and already my leg and underarms are growing back much thinner/slower, but it's not going so well on my bikini line. Apart from the pain (it doesn't really hurt my legs or underarms but good god my bikini makes my eyes water).

I could put up with the pain if it worked but it doesn't seem to catch the majority of the hairs. I tried Immacing it and then when the hair was much shorter (but long enough) thought I might be able to do it that way, but it's the same thing, it just doesn't seem to catch it.

Do any of you manage to epilate your bikini lines? Any tips?

Thanks a lot

I got an ice pack with my eppilator. Bikini line is painful, but underarms I can't do! I wondered about piles cream with the local anasthetic. Wash off before eppilating. Ice pack didn't make a huge difference. I find it doesn't get all my leg hair. It seems to snap it off rather than pull it out. Pulls some out.

I'm not sure what's different about my bikini line. It takes time on my legs and underarms, find I have to go over specific hairs that it doesn't pick up at first but on my bikini it doesn't seems to pick hardly any hairs up, and it's too painful to continue.

I hadn't thought of trying an icepack, but then you said it didn't seem to help anyway...hmmm,

Thanks anyway though. I might try the piles cream

I waxed my bikini line first, then just roulades the regrowth. There's a lot less of it so the pain is more bearable! You just need to keep on top of it.

And it's easier to pick up the hairs if you hold the skin really taut

I'll give that a try VikingLady, thanks

Are you using it in the shower?

No mine's a plug in one.

I had thought about trying a really hot flannel on the area immediately before?

Oh god. I can only epilate my bikini line and underarms as they have been lasered previously - and i have only a light re-growth. I did try it pre-laser and it was just unbearably painful.

I would wax those areas instead.

I use my DH's beard trimmer to trim my bikini line down short before epilating it- works much better on really short hair, like 3mm. He would obviously kill me if he knew. But he doesnt go on MN so what the hell!!

i do. tips? be in a good mood, don't do it at the wrong time of the month and have a glass of something strong if new to it or having lots to do.
yes happymum i do this too lol.
being able to see what you are doing in a mirror helps
don't think you have to do it all in one go but do aim for an equal amount on both sides
