Layers. A few pairs of cosy jersey trousers/dungarees and long sleeved cotton tops. Some thickish all in ones with feet - plain for night , patterned for day ! Couple of cardigans/fleeces , a pack of long sleeved bodysuits. Maybe a snowsuit with a long zip integral feet and mitts, hat.

Get a really warm cosy toe thing for pushchair that zips up the middle and ties on to the pushchair at the top so stays in place as you get baby in and out. Side zipping ones are really annoying as you can't leave it unzipped and push along without cosytoe getting caught in the wheel or dragging on the ground. Also get one for the car seat - I got a really nice fleece one that was very snuggly. This way you can avoid fannying around with too many coats etc as they're warm in their 'vehicles', and you can just unzip when you go inside if necessary (don't need to wake sleeping baby in carseat/pushchair etc when you go between outside and inside).

My ds2 was born this time last year (actually it's his birthday tomorrow!)
All winter he wore baby-go's which we snazzed up with some nice bright t-shirts to go over the top, he looked so cute and so much more comfortable than all the wee babies stuffed into jeans!
then a series of different sized sno-suits to wear outside.
aw -enjoy your lovely bundle.
