Fell totally off the wagon but dusting myself off to try again for December.

Have more than enough clothes and no need to buy anything.

What was the no buy thread? It sounds like something I should get involved with...Am fastidiously avoiding the black Friday deals online today but I suspect I'll cave come lunchtime..especially as I've been paid today.

I wanted the Gap Merino sweater but forgot to buy it and now its full price again. I could do with jumpers.

Signing up optimistically again, I don't need anything new and want to live more simply, it's much more satisfying to clear stuff out! :)

Am ebaying off shoes and other bits of my wardrobe to help. Its quite therapeutic.

I bought virtually zero make up between August and last week - self-imposed 3 month make up ban. All I bought was one mascara because I genuinely needed to replace my day mascara. I highly recommend it - it really made me think about what I already have, what I love using, and also what I hate using. I ended up chucking several bits that just didnt' suit me or lipstick that was a bit too drying or whatever.

Its my birthday next week so will treat myself to a few new bits, but won't be going mad. I find that having too much choice, with clothes or with make up, just does my head in.

Lotta I used to be a makeup fiend and had boxes of the stuff. Last year I put myself on a ban and used up everything I have, only rebuying the absolute essentials and chucking out the stuff I really didn't like. Now I have a nice streamlined selection, use everything, it all suits me and it basically all fits in one large makeup bag.
I went to superdrug for the first time in months this week as needed some new lippies, etc and a few basics for winter and a slight change of hair colour. I spent £40 and realised I used to spend that at least once a month Shock

Good work Peppermint. And you can really enjoy spending that money because you know that you need and will use everything you're buying. I used to end up buying yet another red lipstick or whatever, get it home and realise I had one or two that were almost identical. Madness.

I have signed up to Birchbox as you get a few new things to try each month. Got a nice big bottle of primer this month. So that will save me buying one from BareMinerals.

Today is the best day of the year to start one!
I'm not promising a total ban because it seems to make me shop more (just like a diet) but I'm trying to be more mindful and avoid shopping as much as I can.

For me it's all about stopping browsing, and that is hard, because I love fashion and beautiful things.

Recovering Shopaholic has some great posts...

I've rediscovered my flares from several years ago. They are really fashionable and an example how trends fluctuate and return. I've finally figured out how to style them for everyday wear (a slightly cropped sweater and high-tops - I used to wear heels or wedges with them but the slight platform of sports shoes works just as well. I bought a cropped sweater last winter and the shoes are from summer sales, so no new purchases required).

I'm tired of stuff - want less and less of it...

My problem is that I do need to buy some bits as I lost a bit of weight and some of my old clothes are way too big. That's where the ebaying is good.

Would like some new cords. Had some lovely ones in my old size.

Ok so are we on?

You are allowed to have some exceptions. I could do with some cords and winter sweaters. But apart from that I am done.

Might also have a one in and one out policy.

Oh yes, one in one out works well. Avoids a clutter situation

Thanks Frugal. Am on a mission to put stuff on ebay this weekend. Then I will have things I need to replace (in my new smaller size). Rather than wearing everything baggy.

Yes I'm in - dropped off the old threads through lack of willpower! Have done some black Friday shopping (bargains really tempt me) and so that needs to be it until January 2015! Hope you ladies can keep me strong!

I like recovering shopaholic's posts too.

I don't actually feel like I need anything else. Have lots of nice dresses for Xmas season.

Actually the only thing is cords but need to sell my old ones on ebay first. Took the pics now need to sell.

November was ABYSMAL for me. We went to the USA at the beginning of the month and you can well imagine what happened what with all the discounts and outlet malls Blush.

I am ashamed to say that I have continued to shop since we got back. Although I'm 'only' keeping one dress from Zara and am taking the other back tomorrow, have resisted the ASOS code and will return most of the sets of pyjamas I bought from House of Frazer. Honest.

Need to join for December. My credit card just isn't funny any more.

Lol cardamom I don't know if I should laugh or cry at being identified as your fellow miscreant Grin

DH has my credit cards at the moment as I Cannot Be Trusted (my idea not DH's before anyone worries btw)

The beginning of A/W is when I'll buy, December not so much.

I bought a couple of Woollover jumpers (and I'm leaving the catalogue out with the next one I want marked off for DH Wink )

Some Philosophy Shower gel (not just for me, general family use)

Mini straighteners for my short hair

a The Sak wristlet bag

I've got enough clothes for Christmas- some M&S leggings I bought last year and not worn yet, a couple of charcoal sparkly tops.
Red fine knit wool dress.

And false nails (mine won't do me justice) and a small OPI Christmas red nail laquer from eBay.

So I'm fine now til............March apart from haircuts Wink

Reading the morning paper, an 11% decrease in instore and online spending in the US over the Black Friday weekend.

Celebrated Cyber Monday by deleting all shopping related cookies on my phone and iPad (dozens and dozens of them, basically one or more for every online store I have ever visited). I've felt the ads I see are becoming rather too targeted - do not want to be bombarded with abandoned shopping carts. The cookies guide targeted ads: once I did this, the ads became much more nonspecific. I've had Adblock on my laptop for years, Apple resisted it for a long time, now proceeding to install it on my phone and tablet as well.

I'm avoiding online shops these days and unsubscribed a few stubborn e-tailers who are sending me offers and codes.

Feels like a detox Wink

Well done frugal. Most of my emails go to promotions in Gmail so are quite easy to ignore Grin.
