Long lasting oil free foundation for very oily skin?

Does anyone have any suggestions?

I currently use benefit pore fessional and Mac studio fix fluid with Mac prep n prime pressed powder on top.

This lasts about 3 hours before looking cakey and sliding off my face.

Also tried El dw and dw light with similar results. Also tried lily lolo and bare minerals and can't get on with them.

I need it to be oil free as anything with oil in it immediately results in sore lumps under my skin.

I have been looking at Mac pro longwear which looks good. Has anyone tried that? Or any other great long lasting ones?

Also any tips for oily skin would be great thanks.

I use EL DW and think it's good, so it's a shame that doesn't work for you. I find Bobbi brown oil free just runs off my face. Gross! If you go into mac they can give you a sample so you can try it a few times at home (I find most foundations look good in the shop for the ten minutes you're there but it's a couple of hours later you can tell if it's halfway decent).

My only tip for oily skin is to treat if like normal, slightly sensitive skin. Don't use face washes, don't use face wipes or anything that foams. Cleanse with a cream, oil or balm cleanser on dry skin and buff and rinse. Follow with a toner and then masks, serums and treatments, including oils. Basically, stop stripping your skin, it may just get oilier

There is a chemist brand of cleanser people on here rave about - cetsphil?

I replied on the other thread about foundation, I have very oily skin too and have very little foundation left on my skin after a whole day

Best mac foundation for me was the long tube one which is actually a gel formulation, the mac MUA did my wedding makeup and this is what she used

I did use this for a while but the colour wasn't the best match so I moved on to Dior forever and just testing out clarins everlasting, both of which are very good and medium coverage so not too cakey

I set all with mac blot powder which is the most natural and least cakey powder I've found which helps as I have to re powder all day long!

I have very very oily skin, I have been using bioderma pore refiner daily as a moisturiser, then Porefressional by benefit and then benefits big easy bb cream, I used Rimmel stay matte powder over the top.

I have tried most foundations that are supposedly good for oily skin and this is the best combination I have found.

I am usually ok until lunch time (do makeup around 7:30am) and then re powder at lunch.

Oily skin, the bane of my life. I've tried so many different foundations, from cheap to expensive, and my favourite so far is Bourjois Healthy Mix with Soap and Glory blot powder.

Everything else seems to either slide off by 10am or oxidise in patches.

Ps - Kleenex shine absorbing sheets bought in bulk from ebay!

I would highly recommend applying any foundation then adding Clinique pore refining instant perfecter over the top

I have very oily skin and this just absorbs any oil and stops it layering again. So good!

Cetaphil is fantastic as a cleanser. If you struggle with oily foundation you probably can't manage anything that isn't oil free including moisturiser.

How much coverage do you need - the sole blessing of oily skin is that the bits without acne are usually great! I use Laura Mercier oil-free tinted moisturiser with dermablend concealer.

Also the great Lisa Eldridge doesn't think any foundation will last without needing blotting all day. And if she can't do it, then I don't feel I as a mere mortal stand a chance Grin

Another one here with very oily skin and I do find that what works for a while my skin eventually seems to 'get used to' and it no longer seems to be as effective. Have been using Benefit porefessional followed by Lily Lolo mineral powder for around 3 months but think - once again I need to move onto something new Haloween Sad

I've read a lot of very good things about YSL Ink. It's next on my list to try

What kind of skincare products are you using?

It is important to understand that the oil absorbing properties of the products such as foundation and primer are limited - they cannot absorb loads and loads of oil all day, but they will be able to absorb a certain amount before the oil becomes visible.

I have oily, dehydrated skin which is prone to spots. So I try to avoid certain things as they tend to make me break out. I like when my skin gets a more natural finish (not keen on completely matte), so I tend to only touch up the makeup once or twice a day.

I use the gentle cleanser from Shiseido's Ibuki range - I got a sample of it and it just worked for me. It cleanses my skin without stripping it of moisture so my skin doesn't feel tight and horrible after.

I generally don't use moisturisers as they tend to break me out or make my skin terribly oily. Instead I just use a serum. With my skin being oily and dehydrated, I need hydration in form of water, not oil.
I've been really happy with Aesop Parsley Seed Serum (which is quite expensive, but I've used this every single day for 8 months and the bottle is a little more than half full still.
The Shiseido Ibuki range also works for me - there's a serum and a moisturiser and using them together works great for me.
Indeed Labs Hydraluron serum (Boots has it) also works well for me - I have the moisturiser (moisture jelly) and it's a tad too rich for me.
Generally, anything that's hydrating works for me.

For makeup removal I use Clinique Take the Day off Cleansing Balm - it doesn't leave a residue and doesn't break me out, but removes my makeup really easily.

I'm not a massive fan of primers and often, I'll skip them. But I have been using the green Smashbox one for years. The Maybelline Baby Skin one is similar (just clear). If I'm not completely wrong, Laura Mercier has one that feels very similar that can be used on top of makeup for touch ups - I wouldn't be surprised if the clear Baby Skin or Smashbox ones can be used in the same way.
Benefit Porefessional doesn't work for me at all.

For foundations, I like Laura Mercier oil free tinted moisturiser - it's a light coverage foundation.
EL DWL works really well for me.
Diorskin Nude is great - it's light/medium coverage and looks great.

I'm not a fan of Clarins Everlasting foundation - it's too heavy and during the day, it gets cakey and doesn't wear well. The sample I had was great, but when I bought the bottle, it was horrible.
BareMinerals BareSkin isn't great either - it settles in lines and dry bits of skin and just doesn't look right.

How the foundation is applied also seems to be relevant - I find that using a good brush like a Buffing Brush or Expert Face Brush (from Real Techniques) makes my makeup look better and last longer than if I've applied with fingers or a paddle brush.

I set my foundation with powder - I like Mac Mineralize skinfinish natural a lot, but I have other powders that work as well.

I always have a Mac Select Sheer Pressed Powder with me for touch ups.

Best primer I've used and the only one I use now is MAC SPF 50. It's not perfect but it helps my foundation stay put better than any other I've tried. The benefit one didn't compare.

Never found a holy grail foundation. I have in rotation Revlon Colorstay, Dior Nude, revlon Colorstay whipped creme, No 7 stay perfect superlight and the Rimmel lasting 25hr nude. These all hold up pretty well and having tried most high end long lasting foundation, I've only just realised that I prefer cheaper foundations. These ones just perform better on my oily skin, and look fairly natural. The key for me is definitely the mac primer.

I also really like the MAC mineralise skinfinish natural as it's the only powder I've used that I can touch up with throughout the day without getting cakey.

I liked the YSL fusion ink but it just didn't last.

Also, using a sponge like the Beauty Blender or the Real Techniques makeup sponge ( similar but much cheaper ) tends to make any foundation, no matter how inexpensive apply better, look better and last longer.

I also found the Rimmel Stay Matte primer worked really well at keeping oil at bay and keeping my foundation on longer, whilst still being comfortable - I HATE the feel of silicone primers, but unfortunately it broke me out badly.
