Can anyone help me accessorise this dress for my wedding (less than 2 weeks away eeek!)

I'm having a total nightmare trying to find the following:

A shrug/bolero/cardigan.

Necklace.

Bag.

Have possible shoes - but boring black :(

I'm not sure what colours to put with it. I can't even find a dress I really truly like. This is the front runner www.lollypopvintage.co.uk/vintageweddingdresses/prod_3391245-Vintage-style-Teal-bird-print-50s-tea-dress.html

I'm pear shaped, wanting a totally non traditional dress, as it's just us on the day, no guests. I'd like to be able to wear whatever I buy for the rest of the day, without looking daft wandering about.

I'm a 12-14 (12 on top, 14 on the bottom) and like 50's style dresses.

That dress is lovely. How about ruby shoos for your feet?

Perfect! I love the drew shoes! Just found them for £37.99. Thank you so much! Can't believe they are the perfect match!

I've seen this bolero style cardigan. I'm thinking of trying a red bag too? What do you think?!

The shrug is pretty. A red bag would look lovely if it really matched the red in the birds.

MrsLettuce · 23/10/2014 21:18

The dress is very nice indeed! Maybe a bit summery? Do you have a petticoat?

There a (very) few in a similar style with sleeves which would resolve the ever awful cover-up problem. What's your budget for dress + cover up?

I quite like this rosy one

MrsLettuce · 23/10/2014 21:19

roses again, not deliberate

EhricLovesTheBhrothers · 23/10/2014 21:25

Love the Rosy dress but the first link is a baby bouncer!

StopHurtingMummyArghhhhh · 23/10/2014 21:28

No, but I was intending to buy one to go with it. :)

Budget is just not too expensive really Grin. I bought a dress for £75, but it is just too 'weddingy' for me. So it is going back! Starting again...!

I don't really like the rose print ones - I've looked at that site too! I fell in love with the white butterfly print dress. Then found it was out of stock! GRR!

Ah, yeah, sorry! First dress should have this one!

navy and butterflies only a 12

MrsLettuce · 23/10/2014 21:31

x post!

I like the last one, but think I still prefer the one I've picked.

I'm quite pick on the design. I really don't like any with flowers on. Grin

I'm so tired. I'm fed up of looking! I just want to curl up and cry!

So, see, you do like the dress you've chosen. Good Grin It really is lovely.

The shoes are fab and do indeed look perfect, I like the idea of a red cover-up too but I can't help wonder if the 'red' in the dress might be deep coral IRL, have you seen it in the flesh?

StopHurtingMummyArghhhhh · 23/10/2014 21:56

No, I've not seen it! I'll have to order it, and the shoes. Hope they turn up by midweek! It doesn't leave me much time for finding accessories though!

What else would be 'safe' but nice to put with it? That I could order in advance?!

Hmmm. White? Maybe...?!

I found a bigger photo of it (here) and it looks to me like there's a definte dove grey on the birds. Cream would work, of course. The reddy colour is almost certainly coral though, I'd say. Makes me slightly concerned about the red in your fab shoes.

MrsLettuce · 23/10/2014 22:03

x posts (again_)

StopHurtingMummyArghhhhh · 23/10/2014 22:06

Grin

I really need to order the dress and see it don't I?

OP posts:
MrsLettuce · 23/10/2014 22:07

Erm, yeah!

Iliveinalighthousewiththeghost · 23/10/2014 22:28

I'd go with a thin orange cardigan. To match the birds (or are they red?) if so then go with Red
I wouldn't say you need a necklace with their being so much detail on the dress.
I Would also go with an orange or red bag,
Blue nail varnish would be nice.

StopHurtingMummyArghhhhh · 24/10/2014 20:33

Just bumping! In desperate need for something to cover me up in the dress! Can find plenty of bag and necklace options. But NOTHING to keep me vaguely warm! Help! I'm running out of time!

I love the dress! What colour are the birds?

StopHurtingMummyArghhhhh · 24/10/2014 20:45

I'm not 100% sure, which is the problem I guess! Dress is due to arrive monday! So I will know for sure! I thought they were red, but others have suggested maybe coral.

OP posts:
StopHurtingMummyArghhhhh · 24/10/2014 21:01

I've just had a message from the seller that they are more a burnt orange!

Oh god! I was hoping they were red! Much easier then. Eeeek!
