Foundation Brush - late to the party as per usual!

I was replenishing my DW light stash at JL today and the EL sales woman grimaced when I admitted to applying with my fingers, I ignored her upsell and thought id check in with the MN S&B gurus for advice. A quick search says Real Techniques expert face brush is pretty good, is that still the product of choice --when one has a modest budget-- thanks

Yes, Real Techniques Expert Face Brush or Stippling brush. Nothing wrong with fingers occasionally, too!

I have a sigma f80 brush that is amazing, I got it from amazon.

I also love my Beaty blender, it's an egg shaped sponge that you rinse in water, squeeze the excess out and dab foundation on with it.

I switch between the two.

I have both RT brushes - they're good for different types of foundation IMO. The expert is better for more watery foundations, where the stippling works better on thicker liquids. so I use expert with the Urban decay naked, and the stippling with lancome tient idole. But that's a fussy preference and both are good. I think if I had to choose one it would be stippling

Stippling brushes are ace. I find if I apply with my fingers I end up using too much foundation and it sits funny on the dry patches I have. With the stippling brush I can use a tiny amount of foundation and make it stretch a long way, and it goes on nice and even. Definitely worth investing in one!

I agree fingers are better than flat foundation brushes as it looks streaky on unless u blend for ages and who has time for that. But stippling brushes are very good easy to use and nice finish and quick. Have the real techniques one so far so good and reasonably priced.

AGree that flat foundation brushes are useless, and I would tend to prefer fingers to using them as they just left me streaky. The stippling brush is much better than fingers though and as the prev poster says, means I don't use much and get a lovely even finish.

I use the body shop foundation brush for thinner foundations or the urban decay Karma Optical Blurring Brush for thicker foundations like double wear light - I find a brush gives a more even finish and foundation goes longer and I don't end up with mucky fingers!

So the stippling brush might be the better way to go then? I blagged a sample of double wear (original) just to see what the coverage is like and think that it might give a better finish with a brush as I remember I had blending issues in the past with it, DW light has always been fine with fingers.

I think I have some DW actually, I'll have a check later and see which one seems better with that specific foundation

I think a number of people on you tube said the stippling brush was better if using the DW original.

Mind you the make up artist Mary Greenwell usings her fingers quite a lot. I love her she is absolutely no nonsense!

Brushes waste product and don't allow as even a coverage as fingers. Clean fingers all the way

I think the stippling is better with the double wear - it gives a nice light layer so I can get coverage without being cakey which is sometimes a problem with DW!

I've just got the Real Techniques expert brush and it feels great! Definitely and improvement over my fingers.

I wasted money buying a stippling brush from m&s - cost way more than the RT one, Pur or something. Loads of bristles came out and stuck to my foundation

I've got the mac stippling brush and I'm not really a fan.

The sigma f80 is a flat top kabuki brush and the foundation just slides on beautifully

If I'm using double wear light I normally just use my fingers. My favourite brush would have to be real techniques expert face brush, followed by their orange beauty blender and then the stippling brush.

I like using DW light with the RT Expert Face Brush or the buffing brush.

MrsGromit DW is Estee Lauder's Double Wear foundation, they also have a light version which is being mentioned..I use the Real Techniques stippling brush or buffering brush for more coverage...have the mac brushes too but prefer these

Thankfully the RT brushes are quite reasonable so you can always try both!

I use mac stippling brushes, got a bigger one and a smaller head one for cracks and crevices..I end up using a lot less foundation, coverage is lighter and more breathable and even.. I read that the elf stippling is pretty good so maybe one to try before investing in more expensive brushes

Lisa Eldridge seems to think that some foundations go on better with fingers and some are better with a brush. I have a No7 foundation brush and like it but blending is important!
