Coloured tights -am I doing this wrong?

Twice now someone has declared 'the pantomime's in town' when I have turned up to work wearing coloured tights. I am wearing them with black. Should I perhaps be wearing something that compliments them more?

What type of tights?

Yes. Coloured tights with black does like a bit theatrical, although it's very rude to say so!

What colour and what denier?

No, you just need to perfect your withering stare. How very rude of your colleague. Does he/she look like Abanazer, or Widow Twankey?

Wow, such fast replies.

One pair were blue 50 denier, the others mustardy yellow knit. I wondered if the mustardy ones would be better with Autum colours.

I am useless at this.

He was wearing a flowery crumpled shirt, through which I could see his chest and belly hairs. I was, of course, far too polite to mention it.

Umm depends what colour ! They sound like a twat though

I wear, teal with black tube skirt and amber/orange top. Also have brown clogs, blue stripey tights with grey fine knit dress.

Probably wear blue and grey together.....what colour are yours ?

I wear mustard with all sorts, he sounds like it's not your tights more his personality !

Hmmm...yes, better to go for tonal colours rather than black. For example, I wear purple opaques to work with a navy Jigsaw dress that has flecks of purple in it and navy suede shoes. Mustard tights would look great with burgundy/berry colours. Blue tights are a bit tricky I think.

Nothing wrong with coloured tights

But - What sort of work do you do?
Some places are more conservative than others.
Maybe your fellow worker(s) are trying to be funny. Or are complementing you on your individuality?

I don't think I have the courage to do this kind of thing, but I like it.

Another coloured tights lover. Have done mustard in the past (even with black at times, but also with browns). Also bright blue and red. Currently favouring maroon a lot.

Your colleague sounds like a twat. (Maybe also just checking your legs out a bit Grin.)

I usually wear grey tights as I'm not keen on black in any shape or form. However I do have a burgundy pair and will wear them today in solidarity.

Was a bit rude to make a comment, however it would be exactly what I would be thinking. IMO they make the wearer look "eccentric" at best. I appreciate they are having a bit of a fashion moment.

I am standing here admiring my purple tights right now. Wearing them with a denim skirt. (Which may be bad - have no clue, but don't give a fig.)

I bought some mustard tights yesterday to go with a new knitted grey dress and black cut out ankle boots. I would have worn them today but the dress was too big so back to the drawing board.

Hurrah for the other bright tights wearers.

Bright tights rock... there's a French make called Berthe aux Grand Pieds (bertha big feet) which is eye-wateringly expensive but which has some lovely colours and fab patterns in hosiery; they wash and wear well, and last. It's not the sort of thing I normally splash out on but I went to France about this time last year and forgot to take socks. By the time I saw a shop open (was on a boat) frostbite was imminent and reason completely deserted me, but I haven't regretted buying them (and bought more in the online sale) Blush.

Love coloured tights! Especially coloured thermal tights. Black tights are just too heavy sometimes. Purple, grey or teal are my favourite colours. Trying to pluck up courage to wear mustard yellow.
