Retinal and vit c for anti ageing

I'm in my late 40s and think it's about time I tried to reverse or at least try to hold back the ravages of time.
I know that google should be my friend but there is so much information that I've ploughed through and I still have no simple explanation for which retinol and vit c products I should buy and how I should use them.
Do I use retinol at night and vit c for day? Do I use a combined cream?
Please could I have it from the horses mouth( no insult intented)
If you have used these products and have found that they are effective please could you advise me.

Yes, it is retinol at night and vitamin C during the day, also a SPF during the day if you are using retinol.

Avene Eluage is an effective retinol product. La Roche Posay Redermic is a vitamin C product. I've used them both and they're great, think you can find them both from Boots. Hope this helps!
