Please help dress me for a party - I'm utterly rubbish at this

DP has been invited to an event by some big clients and they've asked me too.

The dress code is cocktail dresses. I don't even know where to start. I'm not even sure what a cocktail dress looks like

To make matters worse I'm currently a size 20 and have GG chest. (please don't judge I know its rubbish)

I am sure I've got no suitable shoes either.

What do I put on my legs?

I think my budget is about £130 MAX. Hoping its enough.

If it makes any difference I have long brown hair which I'd probably wear up, hazel eyes and pale skin.

Please help me and please be gentle with me. Even posting here is a step for me!! Style and beauty is an unknown realm to me. I live in jeans and T shirts with the odd dress thrown in for Christmas. This is really important to DP and I don't want to let him down

Sadly I think I'm apple and pear shape though I don't think my legs are too bad.

Cocktail dress usually means women will be in smart, straightish dresses rather than flouncy in my experience, so although I like both your choices, you'd probably be on the brighter, more 'partyish' side. Does slightly depend on the company and event (eg drinks versus a charity dinner) but I'd personally go slightly more classic. How about

It is universally flattering and you could go bright or quietly classy depending on your personal style. I wear this dress in a mushroom-y colour to company events. And under budget if you order before midnight!
