If you could only have one coat for AW?

I've recently lost 2 stone and all the coats I've accumulated over the years now hang off me. I'm on maternity leave so would ideally find one coat/jacket that covers all eventualities, and it can't be too pricey...

I'm generally casual but like to look a bit finished. I mostly wear skinny jeans, loose jumpers, Breton tops, boots/converse and normally get into scarves in AW.

So... Biker jacket? Parka? Blazer? What would you choose?

Thanks!

Probably either a parka or a peacoat. I love biker jackets but if it's going to be your only coat, it won't be warm enough in winter.

I like the Whistles waxy parka, it's warm-ish, ok for rain, looks good with most outfits (other than v smart) ?

I recently bought the Target Dry Georgia Parka based on recommendations from others on this board and I'm very happy with it. Waterproof, long enough to cover bum, available in lots of colours and there is a promo code for 15% off via school gate style website.

Something from Seasalt sounds like it would suit your style.

A camel single breasted coat, I bought the one off the M&S advert and it's beautiful Smile

AimlesslyPurposeful · 21/09/2014 20:30

A navy peacoat. Something like this one.

hettie · 21/09/2014 20:37

Parka all the way...

bonhomme · 21/09/2014 20:37

Hi, can you link to the m and s one please?

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/09/2014 20:41

Camel coat might be a bit too formal for OP's needs, I think.

heartshapedflux · 21/09/2014 20:45

I've just bought this - goes with everything in my wardobe, warm and snuggly, yet stilly elegant and not remotely bulky:

The Whistles "Thea" black waxy parka is ideal, but way more than I would ever consider paying for a parka.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 21/09/2014 20:53

Agree - the Whistles one is beautiful but so expensive.

buttercrumble · 21/09/2014 20:53

This is a picture of the camel coat fashion.telegraph.co.uk/news-features/TMG10828017/New-Season-MandS-the-verdict.html it's out of stock at the mo , but I'm sure they will get more . It's fab lovely to just throw on but feels so smart Smile

Sleepwhenidie · 21/09/2014 21:44

If you wait for the Grazia 25% code that always comes around it a bit less £ouch. I think the target one looks worth checking out if you fancy the parka option though. The others suggested are nice but rain wouldn't rain trash them....

hollyisalovelyname · 22/09/2014 00:23

Buttercrumble do you think that coat will be available again?
What is the style number please

That whistles parka is a bit good. Wish I hadn't seen it.

(Don't need it. Really don't.)

OP, do you have a second hand clothes shop near you? I'd spend my budget on two new -to-me things, rather than have to only have one coat!

herecomesthsun · 22/09/2014 05:23

I'd get a parka with a hood (I love furry hoods) tk maxx really like Ribeiro and Jensen. At those prices you might be able to pick up a useful blazer as well!
