Thanks for the heads up.

Wonder if they will fit my 43 inch calves. They look wide at the top but so far this month I've spent £30 in delivery charges for boots that have had to go back so I daren't risk it!

I used a code for free delivery which is advertised on their own site and you can buy a prepaid label for £1.49 to return them if they're no good.

Eeek, I've done it! I have a pair of the New Authentic Wedge in a 5 which took a couple of weeks to break in, hope these are a bit easier!

There's no size 9 - boo!

I've never had DM boots before - are they quite wide fitting please? I've got wide feet and chunky calves.

Report
TimeForAnotherNameChange · 19/09/2014 10:30

I have very wide feet and purely on width they're usually fine, but I also have a relatively high arch and I occasionally struggle with boots of all makes because my width takes up all the available space meaning that the top of my foot is often squashed and compressed, at least untill the leather has softened and broken in. The Wedge DM's I mentioned above took a good few weeks and were extremely painful until they eventually gave a bit, if I'm honest, but they are wondeful now, and you can't beat a DM sole and heel for being hardwearing.

DMs are normally very wide fitting, my D width 9s flap about in my Elenas.

Cinnamon73 · 19/09/2014 13:50

Oh, wide fitting? I do hope the top buckle is not just for show then.

Thanks OP - I have a pair on the way too. I thought it was rude not to at that price really.

Haven't got enough pennies -but what a bargain, well shared!

I got my 10 hole black dm's for £7.50 in a charity shop recently!

The calf setting on my Elenas is about a 17in circumference, hence my muscular* calves fit. I have heard that more recent styles are skimpier, but the boots pictured by the OP look fine.

*The only part of me which is quite frankly.

Can't wait to try mine too, but the weather here is ridiculous right now - 20 degs and 89% humidity Shock

LeapingOverTheWall · 19/09/2014 17:03

mine are on their way - fortunately our local Hermes delivery woman is pretty efficient, so fingers crossed...

DD2 (who has several pairs of "proper" DMs) was issuing dire warnings about breaking them in, and how they are going to rub badly at the back of the heel, but none of the reviews say that they take a lot of breaking on. Hope not anyway.

I remember breaking in a pair of proper tall lace up DM's at uni a few 20 odd years ago. I shredded my feet especially around the achilles. We used to use all sorts of weird stuff to rub on the insides - vaseline, cold cream and so on, and used to wear slippers and stamp all over them for hours at a time. Ah, the memories!

Oh god oh god oh god! I wasn't even looking for winter boots and now I think I want these. I'm not even a DM type of girl, not since 1994 anyhow. Oh the dilemmas. It comes in black too (look on ebay) but more money.

Confused
