How do you wear a scarf elegantly?

I have a few scarves (nice dressy ones and warm scarfey ones)
I bought a jumper and cardigan but they're a V neck so there's an expanse of skin.
I can't do the pashmina over the shoulder look.
I don't want to wear a roll neck or turtle neck underneath (flushes)

So , I have a couple of shorter thin scarves but they are just the right length to not sit right.

I could pin with a tiny brooch, would that work?

I've got a snood type and one with heavy silver tone heart charms but they're the wrong colour.
Any ideas.
