...if I want some black, flat work shoes. I'm on my feet all day at work (primary teacher)I want shoes where you can't see my socks (hate pop socks and ballet shoes etc with socks look crap) trying to avoid boots at the moment. Ideally I'd love to wear trainers to work but they are too scruffy. Not sure about brogues - will I look like I have stolen my husband's work shoes?

I've looked on M and S, Next, Viva la diva, duo, clarks.

I'm going to cry soon if I can't find something Sad

Try Hotter. They do nice looking, wide fit, comfy shoes. There are usually good discount codes around for them too, so check those out first.

I got some from Primark over the summer, they weren't entirely flat but were a low heel / dolly style but wide and a size 8 to fit my huge feet

Next wide and sole reviver brand are good too but expensive (around £35 for flats)

Debenhams do a range called good for the sole which is a wider fit and has a quite large range of styles

Doc Martens do some nice shoes and they are ok for my big fat feet (only a size 5-6 but very wide)

Despite being a dress size 10 I get my shoes( EEE fit from) 'shops for the larger lady'.

Evans and simply B appear to have the best - mind you years of not being able to buy 'off the peg' has taught me not to get too excited at the prospect of shoe shopping.

I wear hotter.

Bit functional I'll grant you but soooo comfy.

Avoid slip ons though, quite tiring on the feet.

Pavers is my friend with my extra wide feet that need lots of support.

But shoe shopping is soul destroying

I've Hobbit feet. Flat footed and wide. But I love Sketchers Go Walk 2 range.

I second Hotter. So comfy. And the best fitting shoes I've had for years. I find I have to go up at least a size in Clarks to get a good fit. Skechers also good though no idea if they do anything smart enough for work. Unfortunately Boden is far too expensive for shoes for me (though only tried a pair of canvas shoes from them but they fitted well, considering!)

I've had wide fitting shoes from Simply Be but their sizes are wrong, their 8 says 41 when it should be 42. I had to send some back and order a 9. Blush

Yeah do try new look, decent enough quality and they have hundreds on their wide fit range.

My gran wears Hotter shoes!

Evans do wide fit shoes as do simply be and new look.

My feet are wide & fine Gabor shoes comfortable.

Some Clarks styles have two width fittings - recently I ordered in the wider ones as the shop didn't stock them & they were fine.

Ecco, Josef Siebel and Rieker are all good.

Primark do a thing called 'footies' - they revolutionised my life! They are like socks, but just for the area of the foot that the shoe covers. Up til then I'd been a socks, sensible shoes and trousers girl - now I rock the day away in gorgeous shoes without worrying about showing my blue-spotties or cow-prints Grin

Thanks for all the suggestions! I'm looking now. I'd already looked at hotter but no luck there. Fly London are too narrow for me which is a shame as I love their boots.

Hotter are the only place that make shoes that fit my horrible feet (bunions) . Most of them are pretty grim though.

Keen shoes come up very wide and are superbly comfortable, particularly if you are on your feet all day, I've got a pair of these shoes for work, and they are great. They have comfortable soles too with decent arch support, I can wear them all day without my feet killing, which they would do in most other shoes.

The black ones, that is. They do half sizes which is great (being a 6.5) and are in the sale!

Shoes of prey do made to measure, else US based retailers like zappos or stuart weitzman do nice shoes for wider feet. More expensive but lovely shoes.
