Please help me choose a dress for DFIL's funeral

It's between these 3; I like the Kin ponte one best but is that formal enough? (Think I'm being influenced by wearability for afterwards.) the ghost one is similarly gapey up top to how it looks on the model.

Kin - my fave

ghost dress

warehouse - DH's fave, poss due to its figure-hugging properties...

Off out for the afternoon but would welcome any input.

I don't like any of those, sorry.

Cos has a few nice ones which are very wearable for daytime too:

I'm sorry for your loss.

I think all 3 would be fine for a funeral. My aim at a funeral would be to wear something sober/respectful, and they are all that.

Personally I'm not that keen on the ghost dress, it's a tad too baggy up top. My favourite is the Warehouse dress which I would then wear again to work or dinners with a statement necklace.

However you should wear what you are most comfortable with, an if that's the first dress I think it's a perfectly good option.

I hope that all goes smoothly on the day.

Sorry for your loss.

I think both the Kin and the Ghost are good choices, funereal and appropriate due to their long sleeves and lack of embellishment, although the Kin seems a little short perhaps? Could you wear a thin camisole under the Ghost to avoid gaping?

The Warehouse one lacks gravitas IMO.

How about these as alternatives? The second is particularly rewearable:

Only available in small, I am no expert in what is appropriate but noticed a big discount!

Condolences to you and your DH.

I really like the Kin one, perfect for a funeral in my book and also smart for other occasions. Condolences to your family xx

Actually just noticed the one I linked is only 89 cm which would be too short possibly - it looked longer on the model. I would look for on the knee length at the shortest, possibly a fraction above but not much.

Thanks everyone for the input and kind words. The funeral's on Monday so am cutting it too fine for any more online shopping although I did like some of those options (I've already ordered and collected all the John Lewis ones). I'd forgotten about cos - might go and check out my local one tomorrow to see whether they have dresses 1 or 3 tethers linked to.

I notice you don't include Cos 2. It does look a little as if she'd got her skirt caught in her knickers ...

Just got back from a funeral and www.next.co.uk/x5484s5#679831x54This did the job for £35:00 and it has pockets for hankies.

Ah yes, hankies, good thinking. Like the look and price of that, especially as black doesn't do much for me so won't get many more wears. Not sure I can face the traipse to Next though...

Grin Swimthechannel. I like a bit of asymmetry but that wasn't my cup of tea.

Are you very slim as otherwise I think it would be hard to carry the first one off. My favourite is the Warehouse one.
Sorry for your loss.

Thanks... Not the skinniest but have ordered them all in an 8 or 10. Not much up top so the ghost one isn't doing much for me.

Online, next day? I ordered several outfits but for price and wearability that one won.
Size 12 was generous esp in the bust( I only just a b cup) but put the curves in all the right places.
The hard part was getting the rest of the family kitted out.
Ds wore M and S school trousers and grey tweedy jacket.
Dd was a nightmare, in her 12 yr old mind appropriate and fashionable didn't mix. It cost me 2x shoes, dungarees and 3x tops to get her into a www.next.co.uk/G798514s4#698223G79dress.

Wow, would that work even for a Sunday delivery? Have next started running a normal online shopping setup yet or is it still a big faff to buy stuff without entering into some sort of credit agreement? (Don't worry about a reply, can check their website...)

Love that dress you got for your DD. We're not taking the DC - one is 5 and at the tricky age where she understands enough for it to be very real for her but not a lot of the context. DD2 is 2.6 and blissfully unaware but would be hard work during the service.

Need to know where you got DD's dungarees from though, DD1 is desperate for some!

Don't know about Sunday delivery, but just ordered off the site.

We got back today, feel like been through the wars.
Another bit of advice, have a big breakfast because the drinks at the wake were triples!
Hope it's not too bad on Monday, thinking of you.
