Would you complain about a haircut?

I had a hair cut today that I'm not happy with at all. I'm wondering whether to complain or try to get them to redo it - do you think I have any chance of this once I have left the salon? I should have insisted more at the time but the hairdresser was quite rude and seemed to want to get me in and out as quick as possible.

I asked for a much shorter cut than she gave me. She has barely cut off anything and only spent about 5-10 minutes cutting my hair - if that! I queried this and commented that I have never had such a quick hair cut in my life. She refused to put layers in which I asked for and has only done a very slight trim which has not even got rid of the split ends.

I'm feeling really pissed off about this. I've basically paid £40 for nothing.

I know it could be worse as she could have gone a lot shorter than I wanted, but I'm left feeling I still need a hair cut when I have only just had it done! I did say I wanted more off but the hairdresser said I don't need it as my hair is curly so it will look shorter once dry Hmm yes I obviously know this and bear it mind when telling how much to cut!

Hairdresser just ignored all my instructions and basically did nothing!

Yes, I would complain. She obviously didn't listen to what you wanted and rushed you through which is not what you should expect, no matter what you pay for the service. I would phone the salon tomorrow and ask to speak to the manager and explain exactly as you have here and see what they suggest

Yes call the manager and explain the situation. They should offer to put things right.

I think I will give it a try. Ideally I would want them to refund me and I will just get it done somewhere else! Or have a different stylist do it again at that place...

I've complained before but did it via email as I was too much of a wuss to do it face to face Blush. Got a full refund and actually they said it was useful feedback as there had been other problems with that stylist.

That's a good result, TheMagicToyshop- email them and see what they say. You definitely didn't get what you paid for.

yes I have as I couldnt live withthe colour of my highlights. In daylight they were orange and I cried when I saw them in daylight. I phoned first. They said they would tone them for me. It was a huge relief. It was fineSmile

Doubt very much they will offer you a refund. I got the same lady to fix it. She was probably cursing but she didn't show it!

I've been a massive wuss in the past and not complained even when my hair was cut about two inches shorter on one side! This thread has inspired me to grow up and complain next time though.

I have complained before but I've found they usually get the same person to 'fix' it but as they bodged it in the first place that's not really what you want. I generally just go somewhere else if I've had a bad haircut.

I have complained about a haircut in the past and my salon was very keen to fix it. It's in their interest to keep their clients happy.

Yes to be fair I think I only got a refund because it wasn't really something they could 'fix' (the guy cut it way too short with the wrong kind of parting and he was very rude), but mainly because they were having ongoing issues with him - he left (or was fired?) shortly afterwards.
