What to wear when it's chucking down and neither cold nor warm?

It's going to tip down tomorrow. Do you all wear raincoats, or just dress normally and carry a brolly? Shoes? Is it too early for tights?

I have to pack and can't make my mind up what to take.

Oh god this weather! I wore ankle boots the other day - in August!

All I'm going tomorrow is going to the gym and doing some work so will probably just be in gym kit of pyjamas.

But when out and about I have a choice of either a long kagoule type thing or a sort of waterproof coat with a hood. I never do a brolly but that's because I'm normally holding hands with the dc's.

I've been looking longingly at my ankle boots.

No hands to hold here, so a brolly is do-able, though I hate the things. I get so hot in cagoule type things though.

Yes, I tend to just get wet to be honest which is a bit rubbish.

We'll be sightseeing etc so could be getting rained on for hours. sad

I have a lightweight hooded mac from Seasalt. Still been having wet bare feet in sandals.

Sightseeing in the rain - I'd just go to the cinema or read a book. But I'm definitely a fairweather sightseer.

Brolly.

I´d say wear tights but make sure legs are ok if it gets hot and you want to remove them. (And that shoes are ok for tights / no tights).

What a palaver! The weather needs to make up its mind.

I have a kind of light cotton parka which is good for summer rain. it's j crew, got it in the NaP sales last year. also get too hot in cagoules. leather ankle boots with a good spray of collinil should see you right.

We'll probably go to museums to keep out of the rain!

Agree re making its mind up. Hate all the palaver of taking things off and putting them on again. I've got a cagoule, a denim jacket, a leather jacket (too hot?) or a fabric biker. Denim jacket means no jeans though. Gah.

Take the ankle boots. I'm wearing mine now. Brrr.

Hello Foxy - long time no see!

I've actually packed a lot of my summer stuff away today so its probably going to be boiling again within a couple of days wink

Forecast is around 18 degrees but I don't know how that translates into actual clothing!

BBQSteak Sun 24-Aug-14 18:46:13

i need a waterproof coat and willies

Willies? grin

MrsCampbellBlack Sun 24-Aug-14 18:48:25

Well if its raining, best to keep busy indoors wink

BBQSteak Sun 24-Aug-14 18:50:15

oh ffs!

I mean willies!!grin

willies
stupid auto correct

arrghh it keeps change willies

smile Will have the dds with us though - they'd ask questions if we kept disappearing into the hotel room!

Any more ideas? I still haven't packed anything (except my silk nightie!).

If I plan to hide in museums I tend to wear very light stuff and bring a light waterproof because it's usually boiling in museums. Unless you plan to check things into the cloakroom?

I always bring a tiny umbrella but so far have never used it ... hmm

BestIsWest Sun 24-Aug-14 20:06:33

Of your choices I think I would take the fabric biker and a brolly. You can wear jeans then (and boots if needed). It isn't that cold if you are moving about.

UptoapointLordCopper Sun 24-Aug-14 20:07:53

I don't bring willies. grin

Or wellies. Uncomfortable things. Sturdy walking shoes. If it's chucking down I would wear my waterproof trainers.

I have been known to wear tights and then take them off in the toilets if it gets too hot.

Okay - fabric biker and ankle boots it is (and will stuff cagoule thing in bag too). Have packed skirts, tights and Converse. Hopefully all eventualities covered! Thanks all. No willies packed btw, or wellies.
