Where oh where can I find jeans that fit?

I haven't worn jeans in years, gave up looking a long time ago. But I'm a glutton for punishment and want to have one last stab at finding a pair no matter how traumatic the changing room experience is!

I'm a size 14, got a bit of a tummy, and am generally a bit pear shaped. I want boot cut ones with pockets that aren't too high up as I think they make my bum look bigger. I was initially thinking I want ones I can try on in a high street shop but I'm open to other ideas too. I tried looking in more expensive shops for a while but they seemed even worse than all the cheap shop jeans - I think a lot of wealthy women must be slim and these shops cater for them?!

I went to the Levi's flagship shop in Central London and they measured me and matched me up with my perfect fit jeans. There were a lot to choose from and the jeans were ultra flattering. Not sure if they do that in other local Levi shops - worth asking perhaps.

I'm pear shaped too!

Next have a range of shapes, my legs are too short for 'skinnies' but the 'boyfriend' are surprisingly flattering also spotted some nice 'bootcuts', good range of prices too. I bought a pair yesterday after a long search!

I'm in Scotland so doubt we'd get the same jean-matching technology available to Londoners but I might as well check next time I'm passing a levis shop anyway!

I'll give next a go victory - boyfriend jeans sound like they might work! Still open to more suggestions though!

Next and GAP seem to have a decent selection of different sizes and cuts for women. I found some nice boot cut jeans in Sainsbury too recently too.

I love Oasis Cherry Body sculpt. They're not cheap but they're flattering, keep their shape and colour and wash well. I'm short, pear-shaped and find these very 'girdling' but comfortable.

I really like Not Your Daughters Jeans. They are so comfy and such a good fit.

I've got those Cherry ones too. They are great. And cheap(ish).

The thing about next is they fit great for about 5 hours then the Lycra loosens off and they start slipping down or going baggy at the bum.

I'm with Lucked when it comes to Next jeans. I got some relaxed skinnies there after lots of recommends on here. Looked nice when I put them on but bagged so much I could actually take them off at the end of the day without unzipping/buttoning them. I couldn't have bought a size down though because they'd initially have been too tight to get on. I find GAP ones nearly as bad for 'growing'.

Next and Gap leans always stretch after a couple of wears so i wouldn't recommend them.

Do you have a John Lewis? I went in at a quiet time (Tues mid morning i think) and a sales assistant brought me a variety of shapes, styles, prices and sizes. I didn't look at the tags and just tried them all. I ended up with 2 pairs i loved. One was Not Your Daughters Jeans and the other pair was 7 For All Mankind. They were both quite pricey but i wore them happily/regularly for 1 year (till i got pregnant) then again 1 year till my second pregnancy and am anticipating wearing them again once i've had this baby. However, they are both bot cut, and i think i might like a different more on trend look now.

I read this article recently on 'mum jeans' which are like Marilyn Monroe jeans and similar to boyfriend style. Which may suit your shape.

I like these ones from top shop one two

The Levi's store in Edinburgh will fit you and they are usually quiet. They will hem for free too. Alternatively I love uniqlo jeans

Ooh, lots of great tips! I'm delighted to have got so much advice! I will definitely try John Lewis next time I'm in town; I like the idea of a personal assistant and I'd happily pay more for a pair that is a good fit. John Rocha also sounds promising.

I've never had any luck with oasis in the past and my only trip to the levis shop (at age 13) was highly unsuccessful (just didn't get the impression they have anything for fuller figures) but I may have another go. Skinny jeans are a complete non-starter though with my figure!

I have been surprised at Boden. Good fit that keep their shape during the day and don't bag.

Oasis Cherry all the way. Love, love, love them!

I generally don't find anything to suit me in Oasis except Cherry jeans. Especially the Body Sculpt Cherries. They have amazing girdling properties but are soft and comfortable and have loads of stretch. I look terrible in just about every skinny/skinnyish jeans except these. They aren't ultra skinny imo. I am small and curvy and wide of hip. I really recommend giving them a try.

Gap long and lean, for pear shaped boot cuts.

I'm short and pear shaped ... M&S Per Una esp the 'Roma' ones seem to do the job for me.
