Recommendations for 'posh' jeans

I want to invest in a pair of decent jeans for glam nights out. Have seen a pair of 7 For All Mankind that fit the bill perfectly. They are £225.

Now, I wouldn't hesitate to spend big on certain items but jeans have never been one of them. Are jeans at this type of price level really much better than my standard high street jobs? Can anyone recommend other brands that are great value at this price?

I like J Brand and Goldsign. Had them years.
The only ones I was disappointed with were James jeans. They washed like Next jeans...looked shabby very quickly.

MaidOfStars · 21/08/2014 13:19

Thanks! Have just looked at J Brand's website - they have three different subtypes of the straight leg!!!

Think I spied this brand in Selfridges - will go and have a try.

Sorry, didn't ask the most important questions. So you find the colour doesn't fade too much, they don't wear thin, they don't lose stitching? If I can keep them nice for a few years, the initial outlay will seem far more reasonable in my head!

Perfectly fitting jeans are a bit of a holy grail in my experience so I wouldn't mind paying that much. I might google reviews to see if they wear/wash well though.

Oh sorry , you said 'fit the bill perfectly'.
I really have to read things properly Blush

MaidOfStars · 21/08/2014 13:33

As yet, I have no idea if they fit my arse perfectly!

They are pristine.. No fading especially round stitching. The Goldsign ones were £265 but I plan to get a couple more pairs as I live in them for going out

MelanieCheeks · 21/08/2014 14:30

I love my NotYourDaughters Jeans. They've kept their dark colour, and still fit snugly.

AnathemaIsANiceNameForAGirl · 21/08/2014 15:24

I love Paige. I get them on Ebay though, can't spend three figures on jeans Grin usually pay £20ish a pair.

MrsFlorrick · 21/08/2014 17:13

Paige denim,
7s are good but they are now made is Switzerland instead of US and I find the cut now isn't as nice on me.
Rag and Bone are amazing and hard wearing.
Not sure about J brand. I'm tall but find them too short on me. Also very generously cut so I have to take a 27 instead of 29 which I normally wear.

Selfridges denim department is amazing and staff so helpful! I rate it. They also help with cuts and sizing so you're not left having to try 2 sizes on in every pair.

IShallCallYouSquishy · 21/08/2014 17:24

Both DH and I had a pair of 7's and on both of ours the knees went really quickly. Fit was beautiful though but I wouldn't justify the amount for holey knees after a few months.

ThisBitchIsResting · 21/08/2014 17:28

Premium jeans are great but please don't spend full price!

J Brand 811s are a great skinny (but not tight) mid rise, and come in a plethora of colours and denim rinses. I have three pairs and have never paid over £80.

SnowBells · 21/08/2014 18:13

Paige Denim

MaidOfStars · 21/08/2014 18:15

Thanks for help so far.

Where can I find these premium jeans at bargain prices? Wary of fakes on Ebay... Net-a-Porter isn't massively discounted.

My dark 7FAM faded very quickly and unevenly so I don't wear them anymore. Glad I only paid £60 for them in the sale. My dark Levis are great, no fading at all.

MrsCampbellBlack · 21/08/2014 18:17

Try loads on and then order from either shopbop or revolve.

I love Frame Denim at the moment but I'm fickle.

NoArmaniNoPunani · 21/08/2014 18:18

Paige are my favourite. I buy them in Selfridges - wouldn't trust eBay ones to be genuine

NoArmaniNoPunani · 21/08/2014 18:19

If you want discounted try the outnet

MaidOfStars · 21/08/2014 18:19

And another, more specific, question. Can anyone recommend a brand that might work best for a size-11-so-not-that-fat-but-still-rather-pear-like shape. I have thighs that need to be flattered...

OP posts:
MrsCampbellBlack · 21/08/2014 18:20

Shopbop and revolve have current styles - and generally you can get a pair for at least a third less than what you'd pay in Selfridges.

MaidOfStars · 21/08/2014 18:31

These websites are genius. Can see a shopping spree in my near future...

OP posts:
ZaraW · 21/08/2014 18:51

I get my jeans from Shop bop as well I have a pair of aubergine and tan J Brand 811's which I got in the sale for around $90 and some chinos for less than $60. I've had them for around 2 years and they are still going strong.

I was also disappointed with James jeans. I had some boyfriend jeans which were poor quality. My Zara ones are better and more hard wearing.

TULIP should still get 10% off any purchases at revolve.

shampaintaste · 21/08/2014 19:32

Stay away from True Religion. I've had better quality jeans from Primark. They actually dissolved!

ThisBitchIsResting · 21/08/2014 21:01

I get mine from Donna Ida sales usually, or have also bought from Outnet and NaP sale time. If you can afford it then pay full price to ensure you get the ones you want, but I go to Selfridges and try on lots to find my perfect fit then wait up to a year to find some at a discount and am flexible as to colour / rinse.
