navy - ageing or classic?

Am struggling with this having bought a few items of navy clothing recently. I'm mid 30s btw.

Love navy. Classic I guess but I think just a good colour.

Lucked · 19/08/2014 17:43

Classic but I think you have to accessorise right, not sure about navy shoes! grey and tan better and more fashionable.

What have you bought?

atticusclaw · 19/08/2014 17:44

I wear lots of navy. More flattering and softer than black.

lurkingaround · 19/08/2014 17:44

Love navy. Better than black on most people. And not as ageing as black on most. Why are you struggling?

MrsCampbellBlack · 19/08/2014 17:44

I love navy, including shoes, clothes and bags.

dexter73 · 19/08/2014 17:47

Navy is lovely. Much better than black for me.

buttercrumble · 19/08/2014 17:52

Love it here Smile

NormHonal · 19/08/2014 17:53

Classic, much kinder on many skin tones than black.

MuttonCadet · 19/08/2014 17:56

Love navy, classic colour.

TheFillyjonk · 19/08/2014 18:03

Classic. This thread makes me want to buy a big pile of navy things...

Actually, I must stop looking at the S&B boards as they always make me covetous.

MissBeehiving · 19/08/2014 18:10

Classic. I have a lot of navy - I think it looks more "expensive" than black. But then I could be impossibly deluded Grin

dexter73 · 19/08/2014 18:12

Navy goes with everything as well.

Floisme · 19/08/2014 18:20

It's classic if it suits you; ageing if it doesn't.

On me, it's very ageing, almost as bad as black.

jackandjilly · 19/08/2014 18:21

I'm early 30's and I love navy. Smile

callamia · 19/08/2014 18:22

I live in navy, it suits my (yellowish) colouring and I think it makes me look more well put together than I really am. My navy linen jacket is the best thing I own for that.

beccajoh · 19/08/2014 18:25

I'm mid-30s and love navy!

JohnCusacksWife · 19/08/2014 19:20

I always used to wear black but am moving gradually to navy instead. Suits me so much better and definitely less ageing than black.

PasswordProtected · 19/08/2014 21:36

Navy is the best colour. Always appropriate, massively versatile. I am so hooked, even my car is navy :-(

noddyholder · 19/08/2014 21:37

I like it but it does have a sensible vibe

Mrsgrumble · 19/08/2014 21:38

Mid 30s

Have invested in a lot of navy. I think it looks better than too much black, can be worn in summer also.

Bunbaker · 19/08/2014 21:39

If it suits you it will never look wrong on you. Wearing a colour that doesn't suit you is deeply unflattering no matter how fashionable the style or colour is.

AnnabelleDarling · 19/08/2014 21:56

Passwordprotected, I am a navy obsessive with a navy car too! DH wants to sell it, I said only if you find another navy car to replace it!

I have gradually replaced all the black items in my wardrobe with navy, it's a much better colour for me.

My new wardrobe is based on blues / beiges with a navy coat. I'm forty two and didn't realise how much it suited me until now. I blame navy and sky blue school uniform. Was completely sick of it and it's taken me a while Blush to catch up.

SageYourResoluteOracle · 19/08/2014 23:44

I'm mid thirties and I have a huge amount of navy in my wardrobe now. My secondary school uniform was navy and that put me right off the colour until a couple of years ago, mind you.

I bought (mostly) navy wrap dress today actually.

I agree that it can look classic and classy.

Botanicbaby · 19/08/2014 23:56

Classic.

Have been wearing navy all my life. Looked as good in my twenties as it does now decades later, if I say so myself Wink

I think its timeless but like any colour, its how you put it together and what you wear it with that will affect how it looks.
