Are we wearing long boots this winter or is it ankle boots all the way?

A few years back no one would have been seen dead in ankle boots with skirts or dresses. Now it seems that ankle boots are de rigeur, whatever anyone is wearing.
Do knee length boots have a place at all, and are they 'out' over skinnies?

I live in the Alps and it gets bloody cold here in winter so I can assure you I will be wearing long boots pretty much daily and après-skis at the first sign of snow!

I have no idea what the stylish people will be wearing, but I WILL be wearing long boots, even if it's a winter heatwave, because I have FINALLY found sone that fit over my sturdy fat calves. (Not very helpful and a bit selfish, sorry.)

I am still not sold on the ankle boots / skirt combo. I have pretty good legs (not a stealth boast) but I still think that the ankle boots make me look like I have got cankles.

So I will probably stick to long boots, even possibly over-the-knee ones :)

I have both- long to wear with skirts, short to wear with jeans.

Well all the glossies are heralding the return of the knee boot.

I prefer ankle boots with jeans but may get some long boots to wear with dresses for work.

Long boots all the way for me. I only wear short boots with trousers and really don't get the short-boots-with-skirts lookHmm

Both.

I'll be wearing both Black and Tan short boots. And ran long boots. Bought three ridiculously expensive pairs last year. Promised dh I'd wear them until they fell apart.

Yes, I can't do ankle boots with skirts dresses - makes my legs look too stumpy.

I will be the se as always. Dressed in what I feel comfortable and warm in. So will depend on the weather and working or not.

I don't wear dresses much (I have a gorgeous cherry red wool dress in my wardrobe that needs to be seen in public though)
I gave my long boots to a Charity shop, the zip kept rubbing on my bony ankle bit .
Short boots are easier to drive in I find.

Agree with MrsCB - seems like knee length are back this winter. I don't like them with jeans myself but will wear them with skirts and dresses.

Yes, with jeans - they're a bit too Jayne MacDonald I think

Also they cut your legs in half and make them look stumpy.

I have both. Ankle boots in flat black, heeled black, flat brown and heeled brown and knee in both black and brown. I don't think I'll wear the black high ones (I always feel like a cross between a policeman and a prostitiute in them) but will wear all of the ankle ones and also the brown knee high ones with mini skirts or jumper dresses.

I saw someone wearing these www.drmartens.com/uk///Mens/Mens-Boots/Dr-Martens-2976-Boot/p/11853001 with tights and a tweedy skirt.
Looked ace... Might need a pair.

Boots are for life, not just for Christmas.

Boots are far too expensive to bother about their being in our out of fashion.

Long boots or dm's for me.

I prefer long boots and don't give a flying one whether they are 'in' or not. They suit me, and that's enough.

Both, depending what I am wearing, where I am going and what the weather is like.

I like heeled ankle boots with dresses and flatter knee high boots with short skirts. Bu feel free to do the opposite!

Also I have size 4 feet and narrow ankles (tapering in to size 16 legs).

I can get long boots that are a nice fit over jeans and look reasonable with tights, but a lot of ankle boots flap about and gape at the top.

They are ok with trousers, but cold, uncomfortable and stupid looking with a skirt.

My holly grail is a pair of really nice lace up short boots that can be adjusted to actually fit at the top.

I have skinny ankles and often wear legwarmers with my ankle boots, to fill them in a bit. :)

M&S boots are the worst, I look like I'm wearing kiddies short wellies.
