I want to look like an architect

Met up with some of my old school friends last week. A couple of them are architects and looked great: edgy, quirky yet classy in a simple kind of way. Neither of them has a lot of money so I doubt they spend much on their clothes but they looked much better than some of the other people there who clearly had (spent a lot).

I desperately want the same look, where do I start? Which shops or labels do I look up?

You need to shop at Cos.

All female architects wear Cos Grin it's got that minimal, streamlined look.

I'd like to look like an architect too! I'd say Cos would be a good place to start looking. Also & Other Stories.

You need to decide on a 'look' and then rigidly stick to it no matter what life throws at you. Lots of black, structure and red lipstick. Hair is either bobbed or short with a quiff. Think 'Edna mode' from the incredibles

Good quality natural fabrics are a must - linen, cotton, cashmere.
And sensible but quirky shoes. Camper, Naturalista or trainers.

Ok, Cos it is then. Will also look up & Other Stories.

What about shoes?

I have short hair though no quiff so will have to work on that. :-)

Sorry, Chippy, xpost. I have a pair of (very) old Campers somewhere, remember them being super comfortable.

Or take style inspiration from the fabulous Zaha Hadid

Look at bottega veneta and marni for inspiration, they are probably the go to label ,along with prada and dries van noten ,i 've worked in that industry with interior desginers, and I would say that most prefer muted colors but with movment, different textures, quirky prints and design, constructed clothes without décolleté , there is colour but carefully injected or otherwise its too done, its either a crazy printed dress,or mixed prints, ore a very muted bland colour , the only thing I can describe it with ,is that its a bit more groomed and tailored normcore .

I personally think most take inspiration from miuccia prada,

On a more budget friendly scale, cos, and other stories are perfect, by malene birger has that feel too,

Ha, I saw the title and thought 'Cos'!

I have a few architect friends and they all love Cos. The most successful one also wears Jil Sander, Helmut Lang and Issey Miyake.

Everything is streamlined and sleek, no fussy details esp on bags and accessories

Monochrome, shapes. Think of form rather than fussy details.

A well known and beautiful lady architect I knew: crisp white well-fitting shirts, perfectly cut trousers. Just very fluid and simple.

Minimal jewellery and accessories.

Perfect hair and face (but as natural as possible) and worked out loads so she had the figure as the main thing.

White, black, grey. Wasn't worried about being seen in the same thing: it was her Signature Professional Look.
