So, Boden.... Any good??

Just looking through the Autumn catalogue and for the first time there seem to be lots of things I like the look of. Not exactly cheap though!

Is it any good, or will I be sorely disappointed if I give it a try?

I love Boden and they have a great returns policy. I have loads of stuff that washes and wears really well. Wait for a discount code to bring the price down a bit, and they often do free delivery and returns. Enjoy

I have found their clothes that are made from cotton wear well. Other fabrics haven't been so good.

Love Boden. Waiting for a decent code so I can stock up my work wardrobe. Great quality, and has excellent resale value on eBay.

Dresses and skirts are usually well made. Knitwear used to be brilliant but has been dodgy for a couple of seasons now in terms of excessive bobbling/piling. Customer service is fantastic.

Their sizes are odd and the measurements on their web site are wrong, and the waist comes up to your norks so makes everyone look pregnant. I have a few dresses but not one fits me properly. I had to send one back last week as it looked rather like a sac. Ignore the pictures, because they won't look like that, they must have stitched the backs to make them fit.

The children's clothes are fab though. I look out for the sales Wink

Why not order and see. There is years of threads on here about boden. It can't be a new concept to you

Have spent hundreds ordering but always return as find fit is terrible and I look frumpy.
Kids clothes lovely if pricey

"Frumpy" is a good word. The waist's are just too high and a lot of the things make you look pregnant, even if you have a fairly flat stomach. The images online and in their catalogue are very misleading, I think. Shame really.

It's hit or miss for quality and fit, I find. Surprised by the consistent good quality of some of the clothes I ordered from the autumn 14 preview (way back in May this year). Decent quality and some nice detailing.

Yes waists are always too high. Dresses which are very slim cut are fine, I find, because in that case a high waist doesn't = pregnant looking. For example I have this in three colours now, green and navy from last season and now the brighter blue as well.

But anything that involves any increase in the amount of fabric under the waistline at all, makes everyone look pg.

Oh, I love that, flowery. I have this, but I feel so frumpy when I wear it Sad

Yes I've ordered tons of dresses in that shape, because it's a shape that normally suits me really well, but with Boden I always have to send them back, so I don't bother anymore, even though I really like them.

I always say why on the return form, but they don't seem to pay any attention!

I'm another for whom Boden seems to = frumpy. But again, I really like the kids' clothes, great designs, wash well, last forever.

Yes, I agree, a bit hit and miss on the fit front. Bistro trousers fit well, so many dresses with too high a waist. Customer service fabulous and I find it easy to send stuff back as I work near a post office.

Oh what is with the high waist and the polyester linings and all that viscose its too pricey for all that man made fabric, have they not been reading the threads on what we women really want Hmm

Love the clothes for dd who is 8 and buy a few plainer bits and workwear for myself. I'm a size 12 but find if I buy anything patterned or hotchpotch style then I look much bigger as I have large boobs. The jersey day dresses fit nicely though, but I don't mind showing cleavage, some of the wrap tops/dresses can be very low cut.

I'm not cutting edge fashion and in mumsnet terms probably a bit on the mumsy side.

I have a love/hate thing with Boden. Some of my favourite things are from there and I have quite a bit of knitwear, also love their pj bottoms. I avoid the dresses because they never work on me, unless they are a plain shift shape with no waist. If you are long-waisted it's a disaster.

They are also famous for their garishly bright and instantly identifiable prints. I avoid these but I like the plain stuff and some of the more unusual/subtle patterns.

The kids' clothes are expensive, but really good quality and long-lasting. Because of that though I tend to get them from ebay.
