I've found the PERFECT foundation shade

Thought I'd share because I would suspect that my skin tone is similar to lots of others out there. I'm fair skinned with brown hair and brown eyes. Reasonably pale in that I ever towards the lighter shades with all foundations - not porcelain but one or two removed from that.

Anyway, after over two decades and literally hundreds of foundations ranging from the cheapy ones to the Ă‚ÂŁĂ‚ÂŁĂ‚ÂŁ ones I've found the exact shade match for me! And it's Boots No7 ' cool ivory..'

They do several different foundation types and all contain this shade in the range. So err I've bought three different ones ( the lift and luminate, the protect and perfect one and err another one ) and they're all bloody brilliant in terms of being an exact match shade wise. They sink in and actually cover properly without adding colour or making me mask like.

I was going between Laura Mercier and Liz Earle which were fine but not spot on but this is absolutely perfect so thought I'd share because it's bound to help someone

I've recently switched to an old(ish) tube of this I had when I ran out of my normal Laura Mercier. i really like it too - I'm cool beige though (olive-y skin, brown hair and eyes). I've got the Essentially Natural one -it's the one where they hold up the monitor next to your face and magically determine which is the right shade for you.

I think I might stick with this too - it's much cheaper than Laura M!

I have always had an irrational prejudice against Boots No 7 for some reason. Does the foundation keep its colour well during wear? I find that my dream colours look fantastic when I first put them on, and then morph into orange or 'greige' by the afternoon.

I am wearing mineral foundation at the moment but I am so messy that the area where I put my make-up on and my make-up bag get covered in a fine powder. I need to find a good liquid foundation and am quite tempted by the No 7 ones now as I am a similar skin colour to you.

I like the No7 too. Am also cool ivory. I get lots of comments on how well my skin looks when I use it.

oh I hate no 7 usually. think it's over priced for what it is. but this foundation really is very good and wears well. the Botanics BB cream is also the best I've tried

I like and repeat buy - eyeliners, sheer temptation lipsticks and mascara. Also their topcoat is amazing and dries a manicure in seconds.

I am watching with interest. I am cool ivory shade in No7 foundation, I like the essentially natural one too but find the cool ivory pale on me, even though that's what the machine matches me to every time. I have got the deeply beige one to get some colour but am mainly using their tinted moisturiser at the moment. Just out of interest how do you go on with the cool ivory shade at this time of the year when your skin may change colour? I tend to not want to buy my exact shade incase my colour does change, I don't want to be buying different shades.

DameDiazepam - which eyeliners of No7 do you use? I tend to use Avon or Clinique eyeliners because they twist up and don't need sharpening. I also love the No7 sheer temptation lippies but one tube never seems to last long to me, they seem to go down really quickly. I now have the lip crayon which seems to last longer.

No7 has improved no end in the last year or so.
DD and I use the same foundation -she is 16 and I am 58.
It is very good quality.

The eyeliner is just a pencil with a smudger at the end. Perfect shade of brown for me. Mind you now I've discovered Essence make up I'm buying eyeliners from them now as their one is on a par with Bobbi brown gel ones for staying power for a couple of quid!

I had my skin colour matched using the No.7 colourmatch service and came out as Warm Ivory. It really is a perfect match and I have kept with No.7 for a couple of uears now, the colour is very reliable I find.

I've really tried to like the new No7 foundations, I do like other products they do. But the matched me with the gadget gizmo to Calico, they said it was the palest, but it's still not pale enough & gives my skin a greyish/orange cast. I need something paler but clearer, without the dull, greyish tone.

The No7 mineral powder also works well for this shade. I really like it.

I came out four different shades on the two occasions I did this ranging from the rose one (tomato face) to cool ivory. Finally settled on cool vanilla which the assistant matched by eye rather than by the machine.

It goes on well intially but then turns a strange greyish shade on my skin. Also the matte one isn't matte enough as shine breaks through within an hour and when you put it on it shows every pore.

Meh.

Pussinboots - I had that issue too. The cool ivory is great normally but at the moment I am finding it a bit pale. I went and got tested again and it still came up as cool ivory. I tried a shade darker but the no 7 assistant thought it made me look like I was wearing foundation. She suggested a shimmer powder which I apply very lightly with a bug brush. I bought the one that comes in little balls.

I am currently using the new Estée Lauder BB cream which is also spf30 and I'm liking that for summer. They have a 28 day no quibble money back guarantee if you don't like it.

I'm matched to Cool Ivory too and wear it every day. It's pretty perfect and a much better colour match than anything I've found from Chanel,YSL and Lancome. I'm a bit of a makeup snob and wouldn't usually visit the No.7 counter but I'm impressed.

I'm a cool vanilla girl, a friend that is a make up artist put me onto No. 7 foundations a few years ago. Not so keen on other No. 7 make up and think it is overpriced for what it is.

Only problem is Boots in Edinburgh are forever selling out of cool vanilla, especially when there is a 3 for 2 or similar offer on! Must be all our pale Scottish skins!

I was colour matched by No7 to cool vanilla and then calico when they tried again a few days later but both are too dark for me. I bought and tried both but I ended up orange with a tide mark with both shades. Never again

I know this is an old old thread

But my tube of cool ivory is running out and I was wondering if these mumsnetters were still happy with their foundation? Or if they had changed to something else? If so. What?

I am warm Ivory but I knew this anyway!
