Razor that actually shaves legs properly?!

I spent several pounds on what I thought was a decent razor but after using it I noticed my legs are still a bit prickly. It's like it doesn't get close enough to the root. Annoying as it looks like I haven't shaved them for a few days.

Am I doing something wrong or is there a better razor out there?

The Gillette Venus one does the job for me. Just the original blue one seems to do a better job and get a closer shave than the fancy spa breeze ones etc.

I don't shave my legs too often lazy and very fair haired so I use a new blade everytime.

Its possibly the method rather than the razor? I am sure there are tips somewhere for getting a close shave.

Like Waggamamma I use a new blade every time, but unlike her I just buy cheap disposables.

I use men's razors, usually Gillette. They seem to be better than the women's ones.

I use mens razors too. I'm currently using an asda 3 blade one and it is fantastic.

I also use men's razors as they're much more effective than the ones marketed at women. And try putting cheap hair conditioner on your legs instead of shaving foam or soap as it leaves them super smooth.

Mens razors - currently Gillette and always use men's shaving gel rather than foam (own brand one in Boots is about 99p a can)

Another vote for men's razors. You can usually get one on special offer with replacement blades. I use one with about 5 blades, have gone months if not years without replacing the blade, and still get a close shave. Top tip is to buy a cheap hair conditioner and use that as a shaving lubricant - much better than special shaving foams etc!

Gillette Mach 3 here too - use DHs old blades and still way better than the women's ones.

Also Gillette Mach 3 here, with body lotion in the shower.

Men's razors here too. Currently a Gillette Quattro (I think). I had the women's version originally but (a) doesn't seem to be as good, (b) is more expensive, and (c) I can nick DH's if I run out.

Aldi razors are good and cheap enough to use a new blade each time. I use a cheap conditioner or body oil instead of shaving foam and get better results shaving in the bath rather than the shower.

Or use veet in shower hair removal cream, even easier!

Gillette Venus. I don't change the blade at all often, and it's just brilliant. No cuts at all.

Lawnmower, I think, here.

When I 'm being less laissez faire - Gilette Venus.
