All you colour people, what am I?

Dark brown hair, pale skin, freckles and reddish tan.

I know that I don't suit taupe, mushroom, blush pink or pastels but really suit turquoise, petrol, cobalt, fuschia and navy.

Not any sort of yellow, lime or orange.

Look at winter colours. If you have no warmth in your eye colour you'll be a winter.

If you have any red/ yellow in your eyes, you might be a deep autumn.

Someone else will be along to theorise soon!

Clear/bright winter.

Petrol is actually an autumn colour as it has a bit of yellow in it. The others are winter though.

Eye colour (or hair colour) has no bearing on your season - its your skin tone that decides it. There are blondes and brunettes in all seasons. Your hair is covered when being analysed by House of Colour.

My skin is a light olive and i have hazel eyes and dark brown hair. I cannot ever work out what i am either!
I dont suit dusky pink or mustard yellow, orange either, like you.
I have tried to often work out what i am but seem to be inbetween!

I'm saying nothing Grin (am a HoC consultant) except that literally every single client I have ever had, bar two, who have self diagnosed before coming to me have been wrong. All online diagnoses ever make me a Winter, and I am an autumn.

Thanks for your comments, it's an interesting subject. I had no idea that hair and eye colour played no part Confused.
If we purely go on skin tone, how on earth can Greengarden with a light olive skin suit the same colours...even more baffled.

'Just skintone' is misleading, in a way. Your (natural) eye and (natural) hair colour come into it in that your best colours will also flatter your eyes and hair - it would be daft if they didn't as mostly we have our eyes open and not everyone dyes their hair. However, coloured hair is always covered during analysis, and eyes can be misleading in that blue eyes may look nice with any blue, but the right blue will make eyes and skin and hair all look amazing, rather than just eyes.

And lots of people with superficially the same skintone can be different seasons - it's hard to describe, but when you're doing the analysis it clears/brightens in different ways with different colours.

I would love to know more about this. I have pale (blue!) Scottish skin with freckles which has a tendency to burn in the sun. Mid brown hair and grey eyes.
I know I don't suit pale colours as they either make me look washed out or that I've got nothing on! Stronger colourss are definitely better - I'm just never sure which ones!

I have mid to dark brown hair, brown eyes with a touch of hazel and light olive skin (but I think it's a pink undertone rather than yellow) that tans very easily. I have no idea what colours suit me and tend to wear earthy colours (greys, taupes) more than pastels and black, but not sure if that's right. Need to get this done really as my wardrobe is full of every colour under the sun!

When I've done the online analysis I come up as Autumn.

I struggle with this so much - the only season I can rule out myself is winter. I have golden blonde hair (helped out now, but same colour as I was when little), grey/green eyes with some brown in them too and then I really struggle to determine whether my skin is warm or cool as I have mainly green veins, but I get quite rosy cheeks and am fairly fair skinned! I think I am probably a soft summer, but not convinced the colours suit me, but the soft autumn ones aren't right either!!! I need to go for a proper analysis!

Ineedsomehelp, your skin sounds very similar Grin and again the strong colours suit.

This isn't rocket science. Just hold a range of colours up under your face when you have no make-up on. If it suits you will see it. Make a pile of the good and then compare to the various charts online if you need to categorise.

Most people instinctly know what suits them- just trust that. You are just paying for someone else's perspective. Just trust your own based on what you feel works.

There is no scientific proof that these various systems work but people find it helpful in narrowing their focus/shopping habits. Personally I think you can narrow it down into warm, cool and neutral skintones/colour palettes and go from there.

I do trust my own instinct, nowadays, and wouldn't label myself with a season. However, it's taken me decades to trust myself. This maybe due to the quick turn over on the high street.
Just to derail the thread, why would clothes be made in acid yellow (say) if they only suit a tiny percentage of people? Surely shooting themselves in the foot.

I think Lambstales because some people will wear it if they think it's in fashion without any consideration as to whether or not it actually suits them.
I think getting someone else's perspective can be useful though. We get so used to looking at ourselves that I think we don't really see ourselves anymore if you know what I mean.

Ineedsomehelp, your description sounds similar to me and I'm a spring. Still coming to grips with that as bright colours are something I've rarely worn but have begun adding some of the colours I feel more comfortable with - reds, corals, turquoise - and am seeing a difference. I definitely look more alive and less drained when I wear them. I've also hardly worn black, which was my staple colour, as I can really see it does me no favours (although is till love it....boo hoo!)

My DM always hated me in black near my face. She said it drained me!
It's such a shame that my teenage years were in black leather biker jackets and black T-shirts.
She was right though....Mums are

I wear black fairly often but not near my face so much - more likely to be black skirt or trousers with a coloured top (which I seem to remember Trinny and Susannah saying was a no no!)
Thinking about it I don't wear it much at weekends - it tends to be more of a work thing.

I'm a deep blue autumn. As such, I shouldn't really wear black or white and it is true that navy and cream suit me much better. Pretty much all blues suit me, plus orange, mustard, purple and various shades of brown and beige. I also love red!

I've got fairly dark brown hair that I colour to have a reddish tint, deep blue eyes and usually quite light skin although I've tanned well in the UK this year.
