Fake Tan for total Novice.

I'm off to town to buy a wee skirt and guess I best buy a fake tan too!

I am so crap I can streak the dive stuff so in looking for recommendations for fake tan that's easy for a total novice such
As meself.

I've just bought the loreal elixir and love it. Says no fake tan smell but that's not strictly true!! I also like the loreal dry mist. No tacky sticky feeling with it and ded easy to apply.

I like the Soltan bronzer w fake tan and also the Loreal sublime fake tan in medium. I buy new ones every year as I notice they smell worse, the older they get.

You may like to use one of the Moisturising Lotions like Dove Summer glow. You can use it daily ( or twice daily) for a few days and the colour build up gradually. Some of the stronger fake tans can go alarmingly dark in a few hours and leave you streaks and all.
You can't really make a mistake with the gentle ones. johnson's Summer glow is nice too.

I love fake tan. Tried them all! I'm a natural blue skinned scot with blonde hair but with a bit of fake tan I transform into a Swedish native!! Really like the expensive vita liberata phenomenal 2-3 week tan (I'd say 10 days max!) but at £37.50 it's a treat. Fake bake etc great too but messy. The best cheap one I'd say it St Moriz mousse. Under a fiver. Always, I repeat always moisturise knees, elbows, dry areas and definitely use a spongy mit applicator thingy! I think the applicator glove is the key to fake tanning, years of streaks have taught me this. Good luck!

I'm a recent convert to Cocoa Brown 1 hour tan thingy. Don't mind the garish pink bottle: it's decent stuff. You apply the mousse with a mitt (so you can see what you're doing) and then leave it on for 1, 2 or 3 hours before showering off. You'll get a very light colour after 1 hour and a nice glow after 2. It's very cheap and I was impressed with it - had been vv sceptical but thought what the hey!

I also really like Garnier Summer Body moisturising cream.

I think the most important thing is to not overdo it. If you just give yourself a light Ive been pottering about in the garden tan it looks much better than a I've spent the summer sunbathing in Spain deep orange tan.

I use St. Moriz Instant Self Tanning Mist. It doesn't smell that nice though. I use a light spray every few day and have a light natural tan to my legs with no streaks. I moisturise between applications

this is amazing! Don't be fooled by the name, it is not dark or glowing. Just a lovely, light golden colour.

Rodial light is good, TK Maxx always seem to have it. I'm naturally milky white but I do love a warm glow.

Dove Summer Glow is as cheap as chips and actually works on my difficult to tan skin. It doesn't smell horrible either.

Fake Bake wasn't for me. I tan in the sun but am naturally fair, I went from winter fair to positively tangoed in one application. Fine if that's the result you want, I just wanted a healthy glow!

We'll so far it's not streaky. However, I'm naturally pale blue irish skinned and I think it looks a bit odd! Dd (13 so all knowing) and oh think it looks "ok" I wonder if it just needs another coat. On the other hand I did also buy a fab skirt from Whitestuff which I was looking forward to wearing at my mummy's birthday BBQ tonight but I have woken up to pissing rain!!!!!!

Dsds both favour Primark or Poundland for their fake tan purchasing. Both tend to look like radioactive wotsits though...
I used to use Dove Summer Glow - the one for normal to dark skin, although I'm actually very fair, and it gave a nice, convincingly natural colour. Lately however, I've gone and had a spray tan at a salon when I've wanted to have a bit of colour because I can't reach all the bits I want tanned!
