This is a place for lovely pear shapes to share purchases and discuss clothes that fit and flatter our beautiful bodies. Smile

This is the dress that inspired this thread because it's just so great I wanted to share it. As well as being amazing on my pear shaped body it manages to be sort of kinky and innocent at the same time which I love! I sized down.

Crikey! That's a bold dress! I don't think I'd be brave enough to wear it.

I'm struggling with summer skirts. Pencil skirts seem to be in, and a-line/ full skirts seem to be out, unless they are calf length or bottom exposing length.

I have accepted that slim cut trousers don't work for me and have just bought these exciting trousers for work

Hi Bacon, yes it's bold alright. I'll only wear it for parties though. Now... I need parties to go to Wink.
I've seen some great summer skirts. I'm not sure what you're looking for but I love these ones:
Zara floral skirt
Zara navy cotton skirt
Zara denim skirt
Asos pink scuba skirt
Asos black scuba skirt
Asos silver camo jacquard skirt

I need some parties to get glammed up for as well!

Thanks! I'm 5ft4" and want stuff to wear everyday with flats/ saltwater sandals. I'm also a HoC winter and look a dog in pastels. I have hummed about the silver asos one but worry it's too pale and will come to mid calf on me, making them look chunkier, especially with flats.

Might these work better for you Bacon?
Zara red skirt
Warehouse black scuba skirt
The silver Asos one is indeed pale. I tried it on but it's a very bright silver which I thought might look good with a tan. It's lovely but I'm way too white for it. I've got the red camo version on its way to me now. I'll let you know how it goes.
I'd also love to find a summer skirt to wear with flats but I fear my legs are way too chunky. I'm just about ok wearing a midi skirt with opaques and heels but for the summer I think I'm going to look for a maxi skirt. Any ideas for a flattering maxi shape for pears? Most of the ones I've seen make even the tiny models look broad in the beam.

Crikey plastic-I was excited to click on the dress link but jaysus, if I wore that anywhere they'd have me carted off! I am a large pear shape tho :(

Love the Zara skirts-I agree about general lack of a line mind-monsoon may have some but I've been eBay shopping-actually saw some nice swing dresses on Matalan website year-will link later. My funds are low & I need autumn colours-so hard to get the right combo of colour, style & shape to suit!

Plasticbanana- I like the red Zara one. Is it lined? (G-d I am turning into my mother, aren't I?)

Grin evelynj
I've been looking around and it's difficult to find autumn colours isn't it? I think I only found this first one:
Topshop orange skirt
and then these, but not in autumn colours:
Topshop beautiful skirt (but white)
H&M red skirt
H&M nude skirt
Oasis denim skirt

I haven't seen it in real life Bacon but peering closely at the pics on the website I would say no it is not lined.

Kosher Are you me? From your name you must be the same skintone and hair colour as me - & I can't do pastels either. I'm a self-diagnosed Winter, 5'3 and pear. I can't do skirts, or slim/skinnie trousers.

Plastic can you share a photo of yourself in the dress?

I've got that H&M red skirt in black and I love it although I turned up the hem so that it was just below the knee rather than full-on mid calf (I'm 5'3"). I find some full skirts are quite flattering but others make my thighs look huge - not worked out why yet.

I know White Stuff isn't everyone's cup of tea but they normally have a good selection of A line skirts and, if you hunt around, they're not all in-your-face-White Stuffy.

My biggest problem is trousers, in fact I've pretty much given up on them for now.

Thanks for all the links!

KosherBacon · 11/05/2014 13:01

Floisme I have the same problem. I am 5ft3 and all the midi stuff comes mid calf and looks awful on me, cutting me off at the widest point of my calf
Frankswife Maybe we are twins and we just don't know it? I can wear skirts, but they need to be A line or flippy and to the knee. Trousers have to be a wider leg too, to balance out the bigger thigh.

Has anyone seen any midi or maxi day skirts or day dresses for when it's really hot? I need to stop buying party clothes and shop for my real life!

I've found that max studios brand at tkmaxx is really flattering. Well cut.

Thanks Thong I'll take a look at those.
Meanwhile this red camo skirt came from Asos. It is terrible on me. I thought the pleats might lie flat but instead it acts like a gathered skirt on me and makes me look even broader. I'm sending it back.

Thank you so much for this! I am looking for something for Saturday night and might just look at a new skirt / top combo instead of my usual boring black trousers and top look!

Love those h&m skirts-I think tops & skirts work better for us though I love dresses (but never have anywhere to wear them :( )

Like this-they had it in coral but can only see the petite online now

Pears! I ordered the Boden chelsea turn up trousers that do many people on here rave about. I can confirm they look atrocious on pears. They have pockets on the hip that gape, and aren't cut wide enough on the hip so cling. Avoid them! Cross them off your lust list.

Floisme · 16/05/2014 08:11

I'm not massively pear shaped - I can wear pencil and tube skirts if I'm careful - but I can never find trousers. Slim or skinny cuts turn my legs into tree trunks and wide legs look stupid because I'm short. I don't even think bootcuts are as amazing as claimed - they're still tight on the thigh and I never worked out the shoe bit (I don't wear heels).

I've practically given up looking but I'd love to hear any ideas!

I've just bought this.

They've sold out online but they are still in store. I'm short (5ft 1") with incredibly short legs but the regular length is fine on me.

Can I join? I'm a reluctant pear (in my head I'm an hourglass really) and only 5ft0.

Welcome MyGastIsFlabbered Smile

Thanks Bacon for writing off the Boden chelsea turn ups. Very good to know.
I can also confirm that these Boden straightleg jeans which were also recommended on here for pears are absolutely terrible (on me anyway).

I think I might be an extreme pear though because even my Levi bold curve jeans gape a little bit at the back. Did you know that in the US Levi Curve ID go up another notch to 'Extreme Curve'. Strange isn't it. Do they think that we in Europe are less curvy?
