What colour top for a wedding?

I am looking for an outfit for my sister's summer wedding and have seen a skirt I quite like.

www.debenhams.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/prod_10701_10001_60514+FFN0005007_-1

and some earrings to go with it

but I think without a top I might draw the wrong kind of attention. I was thinking of a cream/beige colour camisol top but thought it might be nice to add a bit of colour with the top.

What colour would you wear with those or should I play it safe and stick with beige?

The bridesmaids are wearing red.

I'd better start with a disclaimer that I'm no fashion expert Grin

but

for me, for a wedding, that looks like it needs to either be a dress or a suit. A 'skirt and top' doesn't seem quite dressy enough for your sister's wedding, IMO

I think cream would 'match' the underskirt of the skirt (which you can see through the lace) and look nice. IMHO the skirt is quite colourful so you don't need to add more colour.

Glad I asked here, I am rubbish at these things //grin I did think the same about the top matching the underskirt bit tho so maybe I'm not a lost cause.

Its a relaxed registry office and social club wedding so not sure I need to go all out for this one. I could get a nice jacket to go with the skirt. Any alternatives or suggestions are welcome.

Is the under layer of the skirt creaM? Looks white from here...

If it is, this would work.

Blush missed the bit about it being in summer! This is similar but would be much cooler, it's pricier too though.

Price is ok MrsLettuce, I have a budget of 150 for the outfit. I'm not so keen on the sort've square-ness of that one though.

I appreciate the suggestion though.

Ah, right, well in that case it might be a good idea to look for a different skirt. That one is OK but it does look as cheap as it is and it's likely to really rather sweaty Blush

I will go back to the drawing board, I want something bright but not garish and I really like the earrings haha!

Mmm, for a couple of random guesses based on the earrings and skirt shape - this is a beautiful colour, would work really very well with the earrings. this one too. this would probably need a wrap another lovely colour though.

anything like?

Thanks Grin

Ok so love the colour of the first one but not the shape, I like the second one but bridesmaids are wearing red. Not keen on number three.

Number four is erm, awful a little too bright

Really really like the coral one!!

Oohhh yeah that's what I was aiming for, just a bit more colourful. No pleasing some people eh.

Love the oasis one.

Like the colour of the other one but I am very petite 5ft2 size 10 so it would swamp me.

Gorgeous skirt and earrings. I would wear with a fitted cream/white jacket - would be plenty smart enough for a wedding.

Thanks MrsLettuce you are an absolute star!!

I agree Rudy, that dress is a gorgeous colour.

Thanks Merguez, I am easily swayed though and prefer MrsLettuce's Lipsy offerings. Some lovely dresses. Thanks for your input though, glad you like my taste Smile

I have a pair almost identical to those, not sure if my puffed up pregnancy feet stretched them out at the christmas do though, I will have to dig them out.
