Hello, welcome, take a seat and get comfy!

A few years ago I started a countdown to Christmas thread. This year it inspired a few follow on threads so now we're on our "Get set for Summer"

The basis of these threads is adopting 20 habits which make a difference but don't take too much time or effort. The habits come from previous threads but can be adapted to your own needs.

Thanks for the fab new thread helga!

I'll include the ones I have successfully adopted and maintained from the pre-xmas thread, so mine are:

1 - drink more water
2 - dress for the job I want, not the job I have
3 - hair washed and intensive conditioned every other day
4 - hair dresser every 8 weeks for a trim and tidy-up
5 - 5:2
6 - shred on weekdays
7 - vitamins daily
8 - do my makeup properly every day, including foundation and blusher
9 - base coat, nail varnish and top coat at least 5 days out of 7
10 - brush, floss and mouthwash teeth daily - preferably twice!

That's my starter for ten. I also have exciting/terrifying news (for me, anyway) - I am having adult braces fitted! I am booked in for three extractions next week to kick it all off, then having the ceramics fitted at the beginning of June. I am terrified!

Ooh I'm in Grin

Had to tweak the diet a bit because I found out I've got a higher than desireable cholesterol level Sad but as a vegetarian, non drinker non smoker I'm a bit stumped.
So no crisps - I used to scoff a bag in the evening while MNetting
Cheese only once a week
Haven't lost any weight though Hmm

Gallstone- hopefully having surgery (sooooooooooon I'm in discomfort/pain)

Had my hair cut short and it's a better colour now- but I have to wash it daily (night sweats, oh the glamour)
Wearing make-up every day (never used to bother for work but I'm making the effort now)

Drinking loads more water (hormonal flushes )

Not going on holiday this year but I WILL get a proper spray tan - one of those nekkid booth ones not me in the bathroom trying to reach my back

I have a pair of new jeans (for Post Surgery) and I'm going to try the Next skinnies.

Hmmmmm, anything else.......?

Hola! Hola! Thank you for the shiny new thread!

I'm totally rubbish at committing it this, but I look poo at the moment and feel so tired haggered
I went out with a girlfriend of mine last night and she looked so polished and I looked tired, I'd started work at 6am so I sort of had an excuse, but no more excuses!!!

I've totally stopped exercising, I've been eating rubbish, in fact talking to my friend last night I worked out I'd only eaten white carbs for two days (no veg, no protein!), I've been wearing either my work uniform or pjs!

So my options are, I join this thread and stay committed or I except I'm going to be one of "those" women.

So! Today I don't work, so I showered, did my hair nicely, wore nice jeans, grey blouse, make up, perfume, went and had my nails painted, half leg wax, eyebrows tidied. Ive uploaded myfitnesspal to my new phone and entered what I've eaten today, I've pulled out "cook yourself thin" cook book off my shelf and I've bought ingredients for a healthy curry tonight (although had to buy unhealthy Indian snacks and naan bread for dh ), and ingredients for a healthy cooked breakfast tmr. Oh and took the pup for his 30min walk, normally I nag dh to do it.

Money is tight at the mo, so exercise needs to be walking (or maybe jogging) with the dog, clothes will be what's in the wardrobe etc.

Good luck ladies!!!!

Count me in. I've lost 20lbs since the start of the year (using //www.dietbetter.com, if anyone else likes a financial incentive), and want to lose another 14 by the beginning of August when I go back to work. Don't want to have to buy another work wardrobe!

I will be:

  1. Drinking more water
  2. Taking vitamins
  3. Sticking to a proper skincare routine
  4. Exercising every other day - probably running, as money is tight
  5. Meal planning, and sticking to it - not overeating/mindless eating
  6. Using my 'good' make up and products, not saving them for an imaginary future
  7. Flossing
  8. Using gradual tanner
  9. Standing up straight

10. Being kind to myself - a slip up here and there is OK.

Flossed and mouthwashed last night which I never! Remember to do. Just had a healthy version of a cooked breakfast. Showered, body moisturised, 2hr teeth whitening things in, make up and hair done.

Wearing a pair of zara jeans from last summer which are very tight today :/

kia I know!! I saw that I'd started the Christmas countdown when she was 13 days!

So haven't done much today. Took the dog for a long walk. I really need to sort out a few clothes that I can use for dog walking but not look a complete state.
DH and I have been on a massive house clean marathon today so the house is nice and tidy when we go on hols.
I've packed more or less. Just need to pack underwear and DDs mini Arsenal kit (BIL is a big Arsenal fan)
That's bout it for now. Not wearing a scrap of make up but not planning on leaving the house so that's fine.
Got my eyebrows threaded for the first time last weekend. It hurt way less than waxing!
Got my hair cut and coloured 3 weeks ago. Just got a lot of the length chopped off and a fuller fringe. There's something about it I'm not sure of though. I'm not sure if it's the fringe or if it's a bit too short. We'll see.
Going to start doing the shred soon. Wouldn't get the chance during the day as DD doesn't sleep easily but DH will mind her to give me a chance to do it at least 4 times a week.
Going to get back to doing the 5:2 diet as well. I've had great results with it - I just find myself craving sugar/carbs at the moment really badly. Think it's the breastfeeding.

Sorry, that was a bit of a steam of consciousness!

I would suggest this

  1. Clothes out the night before - even pants
  2. Clean your shoes - all of them
  3. wash hair every day and dry properly

4, take your hair out of a hairband or from behind your ears
  1. get your brows done and tinted AMAZING
  2. do your nails once a week and always have toes polished
  3. Exoliate ( i like the no 7 one) on Wednesay
  4. fake tan once a week if you like that look.
  5. iron your clothes

10. use face oil

i do this every week and it gets into a great habit

one list suggests the person brush their teeth daily? Shock Hmm

Forlorn the thread is aimed at those who don't usually dedicate much time to themselves, no need to be so sniffy.

I had a major trawl through of my wardrobe and recycled a load of clothes to the charity shop (some still had labels on, never learn do I ?)

Nail buffer- I can't wear nail product at work and the constant washing in NHS soap takes it's toll.
I do a Vaseline and cotton gloves overnight treatment too.

This weekend I'll do a wax.

Bought myself a couple of Barry M eyeshadows (I do love a bit of Barry Wink )

Forlorn if you're on about no. 10 on my list, it's the flossing and mouthwashing I find difficult to remember, I just lumped them all together because I need to expand my routine to include all of them, every time. Now, if that meets with your approval? Wink

I'd suggest start buffing your heels and feet for a minute or 2 each day in the shower. By the time it's proper sandal weather you'll have presentable feet.
