Bloody work trousers!!!

holidaysarenice · 29/04/2014 20:55

Please somebody tell me where I can find nice work trousers!

Semi-formal, less than 35 max - they will get ruined. Skinner leg, chinos? Ankle grazers? I really don't care!!!!

Black, grey or navy or anything really.

Oh yeah they have to fit! I'm a 14, with a small bum and thighs but a bigger tummy and a narrower waist.....

NOTHING FITS without looking like I could put two bums in there.

M and s all looked like Simon Cowell touch my bra type trousers. Let's not even talk about h and m and the one legged jump.....

Please help or I'm going to work in my knickers.....

Gap? Can usually size down but order 2 sizes just in case. 20% off online atm

Sorry they are over budget but you are the exact same shape as me and the Boden Chelsea turn ups are amazing. They are 59 but I got them at 25% off last week so 44. So worth the money, wash and wear amazingly (I've bought four pairs now in case they stop making them). My view is the cost per wear will be so much better than a cheaper pair that go saggy or washed out

If you browse through this great blog by Belinda here on S+B, there are great posts on work trousers. Gap, Banana Republic, Mango, Hobbs etc tried on and reviewed. All the hard work done for you!

Am I going to be banned for linking the blog too much??

Thanks I did have a look at belindas but they all seemed expensive? Ate Biden really worth it? I'm 27 will I be wearing something far too old? Or is that just a perception?

Have you seen the Mango trousers? And the Gap ones. They're way cheaper than Boden. Belinda really rates them.

I bought some this week from Zara for £29.99 and they are perfect - 7/8 length, fitted black trousers with ankle zips in black so not noticeable really. Zip at side so no added bulk around waist. Mid rise. Something like 60pc cotton, 35pc poly and 5pc Elastane. I don't mind the poly content as it makes them easy to wash. I'm a size 10 pear and got a S, but everything in Zara has crazily unpredictable sizing so go and try on if you can. I took in an M in a different style and couldn't get them past my hips!

I'd planned to get ones from Gap which Belinda recommended though, they are about £45 but they often have 30% off emails if you can wait - I couldn't.

I love Belinda's blog but mostly beyond my budget Sad

Bought some very flattering, black slim-legged trousers from Dorothy Perkins last week

Your body shape sounds similar to mine. I find it impossible to find work trousers (or any trousers!) that are within price range, fit my body shape and look OK.

The best I have found are in New Look although they are very baggy around the waist. I have to wear a belt or put a discrete stitch in the waist.

Jumped would you mind linking the Zara ones?

Thanks everyone lots to start me off! The Zara ones sound good too!

Am I the only person who does a one legged dance round h an m changing rooms trying on their trousers?? It's comical, and depressing at the same time!

Those mango ones look like a positive too! Pray for no obvious crotch in any of them tho!

I'll update after the weekend an tell you all where the random fitting trousers are....

Just had a look and the ones I got from Zara aren't on their website Hmm

There were loads in stock though, right at the front of the store where the new stuff goes. Maybe they will appear on the website soon. They're not the 5 pocket ones and don't have extraneous detailing like side zips or leather strips.

Topshop skinny cigarettes are great - not too skinny and nice sharp crease down the front. Only £22 too

Hello ladies, another place to look for work trousers, if Mango and Gap are a bit too pricey is H&M. They have some good stretchy cotton trousers for £12.99, hiding amidst the polyester stuff.

In France or Italy or somewhere where style can still be found?

Agree with gillybob re boden's Chelsea turnups. Have also just brought a couple of pairs of their Bistro cropped trousers. They a a little over your budget but Boden always have special offers so you should never ever have to pay full price. I wore my new Bistro's to a v posh Mayfair restaurant last fri nite and this afternoon will be wearing them to an afternoon tea at DD's school so v versatile.

OP, have just noticed your comment about Boden stuff being a bit old. My trick with Boden is to never ever buy their patterned stuff as it is so distinctive and I do not want to be a Mrs Boden! Their jeans, trousers and cardigans are all really good basics and I get loads of comments about how good they look, people are always shocked when I say they're from Boden "but you don't look Boden!" So it's really down to how you wear them.

Ha, totally agree with you nowahousewife. I've been doing that for years too.
I bought the Chelsea turn ups the other day and cant wait to wear them. Good news about the washing situation!
