Is there any way of getting colours done without paying £££

I am really rubbish at knowing what colours suit me. I would love to get my colours done but really can't afford it at the moment. Is there anything else I can do?

Thanks.

Go into B&Q, take a load of paint swatches then promenade up and down the mirror aisle?

I think this should work!

My hair is lighter than that now.

I know this is going to sound stupid but how do you know what looks good. Obviously if something looks great or awful it is a bit more obvious but what if it is just meh! How can you see that?

There are a few websites that could point you in the right direction:
alookinthemirror.com/category/style/color-analysis/

I still can't decide if I'm deep autumn or warm autumn, but as I've narrowed it down I try the different colours next to my face and see which I like best.

Great links its the explanation of deep winter on the first site - assuming it's HoC's 'sultry' winter is the best I've ever found. I always thought I was an autumn but it makes sense that I'm a warmish shade of winter!

OP, is your skin cool or warm? Your dark hair leads me to think you're an autumn or winter as a starting point.

I've just remembered that I found this helpful too

I've had my colours done twice, with two different results.

Just sayin'.

My natural hair colour is more a light to medium brown I think combined with a large amount of grey!

I will look at those links now thank you.

I was originally an autumn then a winter so it is a bit odd sanity It's also not exactly a science and only as good as the consultant you choose IMHO. The link above explained why a deep winter can merge into an autumn which made sense to me.
