.. have bought a maxi dress today H&M 'premium' (i.e suppose that means that its slightly better fabric than usual ) at £29.99 (I cant find a link to it ) but i usualy go bythe 85% rule.. i.e to keep something it has to be over 85% right..(cant find a photo on the website to link to show you)

Now here is where the possible daft bit comes in.....
The fabric is a really lovely pattern ( all reds oranges blues... dont think id find fabric like it in the shops..,) .. but the style of the dress isnt really 'me'....

BUT .. why i bought it , is because i think it wil make a fab maxi SKIRT..and i can alter it easily.. I already have vest tops to match and can just see me wearing it loads this summer ..

BUT Am i being daft to buy a dress for so much and then chop it up ?

Just tell me your opinion (please..) I cant make my mind up .., (dithering) Blush I aske a couple of people butthey wont tell me what to do , quite rightly , but oh im Hmm and Confused Blush

.. oh yes im a bit broke also ...

Would you pay it for a skirt?
If you would then that's okay.

That's 15 quid a metre. You could get silk for that.

Could you not just buy material and make a skirt if that's what you want to do?

.. Good pointdame , I could but sure as hell dontn think i could sew silk

I bought a monsoon skirt a couple of weeks ago for my holiday .. also paid £29 (had a reward voucher) but of course didnt have to alter it..

hmm wont chop it yest ..might have to 'sit' on it for a week or so

I'd do it if I were you but also make a top too so you don't waste it. Give it to friend if you don't want it!

Lovely fabric btw.

Oh I was admiring that dress only an hour ago! It's a really beautiful fabric, if you'd pay that much for a skirt and really won't wear it as a dress then I'd chop it.

Also £29.99 for a skirt you'll wear a lot, for a few years too, good value, just ensure fabric is sewable..

I saw that dress at the weekend and thought it was fab. Keep it! Holidays are good for trying out new styles.

I got this dress today! Glad it gets the thumbs up! (sorry, that is no help at all for your dilemma of cutting it up!).

I would chop it without hesitation but then I often alter clothes if they aren't quite what I want.

OK,, ( of course that is what i wanted you to say.. ) I think i would pay that much for a skirt. (as you see i did , but the Monsoon one is better quality) . , but those of you who have it, im sure agree that it is a lovely pint.. ( the photo doesnt do it justice at all )

Not too sure if i can get a top out of it though as would be a bit short..,it has a tie/ elasticated (fairly high) waist so was going to cut it there and perhaps shorten it a little or put in a pleat/tuck feature around the bottom.. ,

.. BTW i only wanted to chop it up as it really dont do much for my norks (which are a bit on the big side) Hopefully it looks great on you all who have seen it ..

It is true to size also for any one thinking of getting it .. H&M are not renowned for being so , but i got a 12 ( because of norks) and also because if it was to become a skirt I wanted it to be a bit swishy (am usually a 10/12) and it is fine..
