I bought some yesterday after lots of recommendations on here but have now read reviews it makes acne much worse, any experience anyone?

I have really really sensitive skin and it's magic stuff for me. I'd just try it and seesmile

who on earth would you use something like that as a cosmetic? there are tons of primers out there try one made for the job, not for soothing your rubbing thighs

Because it's exactly the same ingredients as the expensive smash box primer.

I have very temperamental, hormonal skin and I've been fine with it.

The silicones in it are really awful for my skin - this and the smashbox primers make me break out.

Mmmm mixed results then! Guess i'll have to wait and see?

I would try it but cleanse v v well (hot cloth/double cleanse) after it

Actually my skin has improved immensely since ditching hot cloth cleansing for miccelar water, it's amazing stuff and gets your skin squeaky clean!

I will make sure to cleanse well. I usually double cleanse and use a hot cloth, so hopefully will be ok. I used it for the first time today and avoided my acne prone chin, just used it on my large pored nose and forehead.
It has worked very well as a primer, just like the smashbox one. I guess time will tell if it is going to cause problems.

Hope it's ok for you as it's a great primer smile

Does it help hide large pores?

DameDiazepamTheDramaQueen Sun 30-Mar-14 23:22:44

Yes as it makes a really smooth base fire make up.

I'm not liking that micellar water one bit. It takes about 8 balls of cotton wool and, even then, not everything's taken off. It doesn't remove mascara completely and my face doesn't feel clean at all. I've been duped haven't I? It's just bog standard water I suspect.

The anti-chafing gel seems good though and I have quite sensitive skin.

I wear 4 coats of mascara, plus eyeliner and colour stay foundation which sticks like glue and Garnier or Nivea sensitive micellar water removes every last scrap with a couple of sweeps of a soaked cotton wool pad. I hold the pad over my eye for a couple of seconds to soften mascara first before wiping. Nothing has ever removed mascara like this stuff, it's amazing!

I've had terrible acne for years and started using lanacane as a primer almost a year ago. My skin hasn't got any better or any worse! I also have extremely sensitive skin and it's never caused me any problems.

Well day two and okay so far smile
To the poster above who asked about whether it covers large pores? Yes it does gives a lovely smooth base over which to apply foundation, so gives the appearances of smoother skin. This is based on my nose in my case.

I've used the Lanacane anti chafe stuff after reading about other people using it. I actually really like it, a tiny tiny bit goes a long way and it does make my skin very smooth and easier to apply foundation onto smoothly. I haven't used the Smashbox one, but I prefer it to a couple of other primers I've used before (I think a No.7 one, and a Maybelline one).

I have very sensitive skin on my cheeks/under my eyes, so I'm super careful about what I put on my face. I worried that the primer plus (No.7 Colourmatch, think that's the name?) foundation would dry my skin and bring out eczema there, but actually the anti chafe gel appears to protect my skin from other products a bit, and stops it drying out and looking all bumpy. It hasn't brought out any blocked pores, spots or oiliness from my nose/chin area either.
