I'm currently using Clinique quick liner and I love the effect eyeliner gives but I struggle with the application
I'd love to try a new one
What are you all using and why?

I have a few for different looks...
Urban decay 24-7 pencils -great for smudgey soft liner and last really well
Bobbi brown gel liner applied with lancome dual ended brush- the one with a bend in it - very versatile, can do everything from neat tight lining to cats eye flicks. Easy to build up
Urban decay liquid eyeliner -for very dramatic jet black lines.

If I had to choose one it would be the bb as it's very versatile but a good brush is the key to gel liner ime

I love Rimmel one. The brush is perfectly shaped and the staying power is good.

For top lids I use collection 2000 fast stroke waterproof, it's £2.99 and doesn't budge. I've been sucked in to trying almost every eyeliner out there and this is amazing. And a bargain Grin

For bottom I recently got smashbox and will def get it again -on bottom I always like to use an olive-y green type colour the same as my eyes. Most brands do it then discontinue it so it's a constant search. Smashbox is easy to put on and stays put too.
I'm still gutted that Clinique discontinued 'sable' Hmm

I'm very new to this
Only tried it because the quick liner was a GWP and I was bored.
I only use it on my top lid and still haven't mastered the flick.
So gel depends on a good brush?
Anyone use pencils?

Pixi is idiot proof, I am totally cackhanded, this is the only one I can apply without disasters.

I love the Laura Mercier caviar liners, applied with a flat brush.

Rimmel kohl pencil in black, it's been one of my staples since i was 17 Grin

I have been using a Lily Lolo eyeshadow with a wet eyeliner brush and it's brilliant! I was all set to buy an expensive eyeliner (and I might still, never say never) but this works so well I've put it on the backburner for now.

It's so easy and creates a beautiful defined line and flick that stays put all day. It's just a cheap brush I've got, was a fiver or so from Superdrug.

I was previously using kohl, which is nice, but does stray and smudge; and while I used to use Rimmel liquid eyeliner, I seem to have lost the knack of it. But my new method is foolproof.

Feel a bit Hmm actually at how easy it is what's the catch

Yes will try now (never linked before so will try my best Smile) it doesn't look olive on the website but I read about it then went to see it in the flesh Grin

Urban Decay 24/7 liquid liner is fabulous. I have "Perversion" which is black and "Siren" which is a beautiful teal/blue with all kinds of glints of colours in it - very dramatic for evening when worn as an alternative to eyeshadow but also pretty for day as a liner.

The Aldi Lacura pencils are great - they last all day, I'm really impressed, and I have quite oily eyelids. I have it in dark grey and a lovely olive green

I like the same Smashbox one too thecherryontop. It's really easy to use, doesn't budge, but easy enough to take off.

I just wanted to add my absolute favourite, also favoured by Sali Hughes from the Guardian: bourjois liner feutre is absolutely fantastic, true black, a great price too.

I've been wearing this for about a decade and I still love it! Doesn't drag the skin, goes on easily and so cheap!

Just got this for my birthday i gold - absolutely love it, so sparkly! Looks amazing on

I also love the Bobbi brown gel eyeliner. They showed me how to put it on and I love it! might check out the Lancôme brush recommended above

I bought 2 pots of Bobbi Brown gel eyeliner on a plane, one black one brown, came with a little brush. However they are all thick and lumpy and I find them unuseable. What am I doing wrong?

Report
StatisticallyChallenged · 27/03/2014 12:36

They are quite thick and but shouldn't be lumpy. You just rub the brush up over gently then I scrape it on the side of the pot so I don't pick up loads.

Jessie It's the brush that makes the difference - the one in the Bobbi Brown travel kits is pretty good. I pick up some liner with the flat side of the brush on both sides, and then scrape it against the side of the pot until the brush is very flat and sharply pointed, with an even coating of liner. Test it on the back of your hand to check you're getting a good sharp line before you apply it.

I like Clinique quick-liner in Blue-Grey, because it matches my eyes. It's the only one I have found that does (and I have tried many!)
I don't do a "flick" very often, though, as I have hooded eyes, so flicks can't be seen anyway.
